Elements of a Good Minimal Product Brochure

1. Brochure cover page: If you haven’t known yet, you’ll find out that there are actually various types of brochures, and regardless of the type, a brochure will always come with a cover page. This cover page will serve as the introduction to the actual contents of the brochure.

2. Business’ name and logo: Since brochures communicate the business’ identity, it should bear the business’ name and logo not only on the cover page but also on the inner pages of the brochure.

3. Compelling message: In order to capture the attention of your readers and encourage them to continue going through your brochure, you will need to communicate to them an impactful and compelling message, one that will really stimulate their interests.

4. Products and/or services being advertised: Advertising the business and their products and services are what a brochure should be about. This is the element that communicates to the readers the details of the brochure.

5. Product/service description: There should always be at least a short description for every product or service listed on the brochure. Readers need to know more than just the name of the product or service.

6. List of benefits: In addition to knowing more, readers should also be informed as to what they are actually getting or how they can benefit from those products or services. Since the description focused on what, this element focuses more on why and how.

7. Photos and illustrations: The presence of photos and/or illustrations on the brochure is more than just to provide readers with a visual representation of the product/service. These can also help in enhancing the look of the brochure.

8. Business’ contact information: In the world of businesses and advertising, the easiest and most convenient way of allowing people to communicate with you is to provide your contact details on every advertising tool.

9. Call to action: Providing your contact details alone is never enough, as it will often result in it getting overlooked or ignored by readers. To really ensure that your readers notice your contact details as well as inform them what you want them to do, you should always include a call to action.

10. Testimonials/reviews section: People’s decisions are often driven by what others say rather than what the business is saying to them. Which is why if you want to really entice them to avail of your products/services, you should gather reviews or testimonials from past customers and include them on your brochure.

Steps to Designing a Great Minimal Product Brochure

1. Choose a theme for your product brochure: The first step in the process of designing your own product brochure is to choose a theme that fits your business and the products or services that you are advertising.

2. Decide on a brochure type: The second step is to decide on a type of brochure. There are so many types to choose from, and we have listed them below for your convenience.

3. Pick a brochure size: Same as the brochure type, there are also various sizes of brochures to choose from, and a list is also provided below for you.

4. Prepare a draft of your brochure’s content: In order to have a reference or guide on what to put onto your brochure, it is best to write a draft on the things that you plan to include on it.

5. Write notes or make a sketch of the brochure’s layout: Also, you will need to have a concrete plan on your brochure’s design, and you can do this either by making a sketch or by writing down notes to describe it.

6. Download a product brochure template: After all the pre-planning tasks, you can now proceed to the more technical tasks starting with downloading a pre-formatted or a blank brochure template.

7. Edit the downloaded brochure template: The best thing about templates is that after downloading one, all you need to do is edit the design. Thankfully, the templates that you have just seen in this article can be edited fully and easily.

8. Add photos or illustrations to the design: If you want, you may be allowed to add photos and/or illustrations to your brochure design, just make sure that these graphics are relevant.

9. Add contact details and a call to action: As mentioned during the elements section, it is very important that you indicate your contact details on the brochure in order for readers to easily get in touch with you when they need to.

10. Gather reviews and testimonials from previous customers: If you want your brochure to look credible, it would be best to include a few reviews and testimonials that you have gathered from past customers.

11. Proofread the content: Before proceeding to print out your brochures, you will need to check the content for any grammatical or spelling errors. This is called proofreading, and you should never print out your brochures without doing this.

12. Print out copies of your brochure: The last step in the process of designing a brochure is printing them out. Be sure to use high-quality and durable materials for printing.

Simple Tips for an Excellent Minimal Product Brochure Layout

1. Always stick to a visual theme, one that represents your brand.

2. Limit the number of fonts used — one font for the heading, another for the subheadings, and a third one for the body content.

3. Stick to simplicity while thinking of your audience as the base for your brochure’s design.

Types of Brochures

The types of brochures can either be according to the number of folds and how the brochure is folded, or it can also be according to how the brochure is actually used. The first part of this section will focus more on the folds applied on the brochure.

1. Bi-fold brochure: A bi-fold brochure consists of a single fold somewhere along the middle of the paper, which will result in two panels on each side (a total of four panels).

2. Regular tri-fold brochure: This brochure divides the paper into three equal parts and has two folds. For this type of brochure, the side panels are folded together towards the middle in order to enclose its content.

3. Gate tri-fold brochure: Just like the regular tri-fold, this type of brochure has two side panels folded together towards the center to enclose its contents. However, unlike the tri-fold, the side panels are smaller in width than the middle panel.

4. Z fold brochure: This type of brochure is quite similar to the trifold in the sense that it also has two folds and a total of six panels. The difference with this type of brochure is that instead of the two side panels folded towards the same side of the paper, the two panels are folded towards opposite directions.

5. Four-panel fold brochure: Just like the z-fold type, the four-panel brochure consists of multiple folds and panels that are directed towards the opposite sides of the paper. The only difference with this one is that while the z-fold is folded twice, this one is folded thrice to come up with four panels.

6. Accordion fold brochure: Heavily resembling the musical instrument, the accordion brochure consists of multiple folds and panels. The folds for this type of brochure are directed towards opposite directions, which means that both of their ends never meet.

7. Double gatefold brochure: This type of brochure is basically just a gatefold brochure, but instead of ending with having the edges of the side panels joining together at the center, the brochure is folded one last time along the middle where the side panels meet.

8. Roll fold brochure: Unlike the accordion fold, this type of brochure is folded in a somewhat rolling motion. In other words, one end of the brochure is tucked underneath multiple layers of folds.

Now that we have talked about the different types of brochures according to the number of times and how the paper is folded, we will now focus on the types of brochures according to how they are used.

1. Direct mail brochure: This brochure type is referred to as the direct mail brochure simply because they are sent to customers leads through the mail. Oftentimes, the recipients of this type of brochure aren’t the target audiences, which makes this type quite risky.

2. Over-the-counter brochure: As the name suggests, this type of brochure is simply placed on top of desks, tables, and counters in the hopes that its catchy headlines and stunning design are enough to encourage people to get a copy of it.

3. Leave behind brochure: Unlike the over-the-counter brochure, this type is distributed by hand and left to recipients. Among the three types of brochures according to use, this one is the most ideal for actually getting the word across.
