5+ Business Estimate Templates
If it has been a while in the construction business for you, the term work estimate might look familiar. It is just a document that gives an approximate amount that a client might have to spend in order to use your services. The values keep varying based on a number of factors and hence there is no one size fits all estimate that you can create.

6 Steps to Create an Estimate in Google Docs
Step 1: Create a New Document
Create a new document in Google Docs. On the top, give the heading ‘Business Estimate’. Below that enter the name and logo of your company. After than insert details of your company, like its address, contact number and email id. Also, if your company has a website, put down the URL as well.
Step 2: Write Down the Details of the Client
In the second step write down the details of your client to whom this is being sent. Write the name of the client, the company that he is representing, the company address and the company phone number. Also if the client has an email address include that as well in this section.
Step 3: Overview of the Document
A client might be dealing with a number of such contracts and after years of doing business with you trusts you and your methods. In that case, the client might just want to take a look at the final costs and estimates instead of going into the details. That is where an overview section comes into play, where the total costs are put down.
Step 4: Tools and Materials Cost
For completing the work you would be needing tools and materials. The charges for them need to be mentioned clearly in this estimate. It might so happen that the client wants a certain partner company to source the materials. In that case, also the details of the costs of renting or buying the tools as well as the cost of the materials need to be mentioned.
Step 5: Cost of Labor
To operate those machines and make something from those materials you would need manpower. Now, you might have your own team of workers or might be outsourcing it from another company. In either case, they would be charging you on an hourly basis. Put that cost down in the estimate as well.
Step 6: Reimbursement
It might so happen that the place where the project will be done is not a place you are familiar with. Thus it becomes impossible for you to guess accurately what the material costs might be. You might be sure of how much you are going to charge for your services. But if the work starts quite sometime after the deal has been made, the price of the materials might increase by then. In that case, a reimbursement agreement comes in handy.
