8+ Contractor Estimate Templates
As a private contractor, the first thing that a client is going to take notice of is your professionalism. As an individual running a business, there are small things that you can do to get noticed. Creating a nice work estimate for your potential clients is one of them. As the name suggests the estimate gives the client an estimate of how much you might be charging him for your services.

5 Steps to Create a Contract Estimate
Step 1: Create a New Document
Create a new document in Google Docs provided by Google. More and more businesses are shifting to it and we believe you might as well. Once you have created it put the heading ‘Contractor Estimate’. Write details related to the job and the document, e.g. the title of the job, the starting date, the location as well as the document number.
Step 2: Details of the Client
In the next section put in the details of the client. This includes his name, the name of his company, the address as well as his contact details. On the other side include your own details. The same information that you mentioned in the case of your client should be present in this case too, i.e. your name, contact number, office address, etc.
Step 3: Designing Cost
The first step of the project is creating the design. Before actually starting with the project you need to first submit a design of what you intend to create. If you have someone in your team who does this job, then his fee needs to be mentioned here. Also if you are going to outsource that job to somebody else, his charge should also be mentioned here.
Step 4: Tools and Materials
Once the design is finalized, the next step would be to start working on the plan. For that, you would be needing tools and materials. The cost for that has to be provided by the client. So that needs to be put here. While designing you might have needed some proprietary software. The rentals cost for that can also be put in this section.
Step 5: Labor Costs
All the tools that you have rented to do the job need to be operated by people. For that, you would require manpower. You might have a number of people working for you, or you might have to hire people on a contractual basis. Either way, you have to pay them on an hourly basis. Include that cost in this section. Also, if you want to include the designer’s fee in this section, you can. After this, there is just going to be a place where the client can put his signature if he accepts the costs.
