When you start with a new business, the first thing you need to do is take orders from your customers so that you can produce according to the orders taken and deliver them as promised. Taking orders is a tough call sometimes, especially when you’re new to the business. The most efficient way to take orders is to create order forms on your device that help you to keep a track of the orders received and delivered. The easiest way to create forms is by using form templates online with their ready-made content and layout for you!

7 Steps to Create Order Form Using Excel Sheet

Step 1: Start With Blank Workbook

The initial step in creating an order form for your device is to open a blank workbook in excel spreadsheet. You will find the option to the upper-left corner of the Excel home page. Once the blank spreadsheet opens, we will now create our order form here.

Step 2: Create Columns

On the blank worksheet, type the heading Order Form and create four individual columns beneath it. Name the columns as Product, Price, Quantity, and Total. From here, the customers will be able to choose their product and look for the available price before they place an order. You can format the font style and size as you wish. You can also apply a border to the list by selecting a suitable border from the Borders option.

Step 3: Create a Products List

This will be a Product Lookup Table, where the customers will be able to find products that they can choose from. Go to the Styles group from the Home tab. Select Format as Table and then choose your Table Style. Now add the range of products under the Product heading in the columns we created. Name the list as “Product Lookup” in the Name Box that appears when you select the list of products.

Step 4: Drop Down List

Now we need to create a Drop-Down List on the Order Form for the products. Select the product column together and select the Data Validation from the Data Tab. On the Allow dropdown, select List; while in the Source box, write, “=ProductList”

Step 5: Add the Prices

Now we need to add the prices of the products so that whenever a customer selects a product, the column automatically returns its respective price. We do this using two formulas: the IF function and VLookup. The IF function will return an empty string if the Product cell is empty. While the VLookup will try to find the product from the ProductLookup table and return with the price.

Step 6: Calculate

The next step is to add the formula to calculate the total price when the customer enters a quantity of the product. For this, we will use the IF function as well. If the quantity row is empty then the IF function will return an empty string on the Total column. To calculate the total price of the product, we will use the SUM function on the Total column and we will get the total price of the customer’s order.

Step 7: Format

You can format the table by adding colors, cell formatting and font styling to make the Order form more visually appealing. Keep the headings in bold and make sure you provide the appropriate date for each day and month on the Order Form.
