Letters of Interest are part of professional correspondence initiated by someone seeking an opportunity. These letters are addressed to organizations and institutions that a person works for or wishes to work for (or study under). Essentially, they formally declare professional interest in any explicit or implicit offer. This can be an offer for a job, a promotion, an internship, or a program of study. Sometimes these sample letters are requirements; other times it is completely your decision.
Wherever you are in your professional career, your ambition will be best served by taking the initiative. If you aren’t sure where to start drafting such letters, this list of free examples will show the way to getting what you want.
Letters of interest are also known as “prospecting letters” and can even appear in a different guise of a cover letter. The main difference between prospecting letters and cover letters is that the latter is usually required (most commonly when applying for a graduate program).
These are most similar to the Letter of Interest for College in this list.
The prospecting kind is more in the field of a Business Letter Of Intent Template. This letter lets a company know that you are willing to enter into a job contract with them, given your qualifications and interests in relation to their business needs and objectives. The company need not be actively hiring for you to send this letter. If you are indeed a good fit, you will be top of the list when the next round of hiring comes about.
If you are already working within a company and feel you are qualified to move up the ladder, a professionally written Promotion Letter Template addressed to your immediate supervisor (or whoever is in charge of these decisions) is the way to broach the subject.
There is also an example of a letter of interest for lease. This is a real estate document that is submitted in response to a property owner’s public lease offer. This letter tells the owner/seller that you are willing to enter into a lease contract. Think of it as a real estate application letter.
Due to the nature of this letter, no template you can find for free on the Internet will be a perfect fit in all details. At best, the most usable samples can be invaluable guidelines, showing you the tone and detail you should incorporate.
The examples provided here can be download as free Word documents and PDF files for this very reason.
In these formats, all you need is your favorite word processor or a good PDF-editing software, as well as the prerequisite qualifications and initiative, and you can draft your own Employment Letter Of Intent Template, internship letter, application to a university, or real estate letter of intent.
