How to Create the Best Temporary Resignation Letter

Resignation letters are tricky to construct overall, but temporary resignation letters are much trickier. How do you say you are only taking a break from the company in the meantime and that you swear to commit to it again after the date you’ve specified? Here are some tips to help you out and ease your temporary resignation letter making:

  • Use a formal letter but still friendly opening. Suddenly addressing your boss with his family name when you’ve known him close enough to call him by his first will only throw him off and give an awkward start to the letter instead. Starting off with a “Dear” before his first name will be friendly but proper.
  • Create a clear but concise statement why you need to temporarily quit the job. Do not leave the job without giving a proper reason, your boss at least needs to know why you have to go for the meantime. But do only give the information that you are comfortable to share. Your boss deserves to know, but he does not need to know that much.

More Tips in Creating the Best Temporary Resignation Letter

Our temporary resignation letter examples are sure to give out the best letter possible, but we do understand your need to make it as personalized as you possibly can. Here are more tips to create the best temporary resignation letter:

  • Declare your last day from the position, but indicate when you are coming back. It is only fair that you give the company a heads-up of when you are leaving so they can make all the necessary arrangements. And do make sure to resume work on the exact date you specified to keep your integrity.
  • Make sure you leave without worrying the company about how they will cope without your presence in the meantime. Offer to extend your help by delegating your tasks to some of your associates or training the temporary employee to fill in your spot. This is the least that you can do to ease the adjustments that your team will go through once you disappear temporarily.
