10+ Best Music Lesson Plan Templates

Music is a fun activity to learn and practice. But without proper guidance and structure, it can be rather challenging. To overcome this difficulty, there are a wide number of sample music lesson plan templates designed for teachers to help them make their classes more organised and exciting.

5 Easy Steps to Create a Music Lesson Plan

Step 1: Have an Objective

Having an objective will help you determine what you would want the students to learn by the end of the lesson. The objective could vary for different lessons. It could be teaching the students how to keep up with a beat of the music, how to socially interact with one and another and come up with creative skills and so on.

Step 2: List of Materials

For every lesson plan, using lesson plan in Word, note down the list of materials, instruments and resources required. This will make it easier for you and the students to know what’s necessary. You can collect your materials through various resources. If a projector is required, arrange it along with the power point presentation ready. If there are physical materials needed for the class, make a note of them. The materials used should be in terms with the Common Core Standards.

Step 3: Duration

After the list of materials is complete, figure out the time that will be taken up by a particular lesson. It could range anywhere between 20 mins to 1 hour. Not just the hours, sometimes the activity may take more than just one class, so mention the number of classes it would take to complete the lesson on the whole.

Step 4: Instructions and Procedure

In the next step, you can write a detailed plan for your class step by step. This will give a gist of how to proceed with the activity. Make sure you are flexible with your lesson plan. You should have an idea how to start your class, what questions to ask and how to close it. Write the title of the lesson and grade of the level followed by the steps.

Step 5: Evaluation

Once the class is complete, find out how the class went and what are some of the changes you will like to incorporate in you lesson next time and why. Write feedback for the students and about the overall class in general and work on it. You can make use of free plan templates to help yourself with a variety of lesson plans.
