How to Make Your Own Workout Plan

Working out is never going to be easy, but you can make it easier for yourself if you know what you should do and when you should do it. The point of having this type of plan is so that it can outline everything from your workout goals to what kind of exercises you should be doing. Once you have an idea as to what you need to do, then it won’t be too long until you’re able to meet whatever workout goals you’ve set for yourself.

And with all that in mind, here are the steps that will help you come up with your very own workout plan:

Know What Your Goals Are Going to Be

As soon as you start coming up with your plan, it’s very important that you know what it is that you want to be able to achieve. This means that you’re going to have to realize what your workout goals are so that you have an idea as to how you’re supposed to work towards them. Also, placing them in the plan will remind about what it is that you have to work towards, allowing you to set expectations for yourself that you’ll wan to be able to meet.

So what is it that you’re aiming for? This is the one question that you’re going to have to answer so that you’ll have an idea as to what your workout goals are supposed to be. Is there are specific weight that you want to gain? Or maybe you’re just simply trying to gain muscle? Also, you need to be sure that it contains the following aspects:

  • Clean and specific – As you’re coming up with your workout goal, you need to know exactly what that is. Again, you’ll only be able to come up with the different types of exercises that you’ll need to be doing if you know what it is that you have to achieve. So make your goal clear and easy to understand and you shouldn’t have any problems realizing what it is that you’re supposed to attain.
  • Measurable – If you want to be able to attain your goal, then you need to keep track of your progress. It’s very important that you’re able to do this as you’ll need to know whether you’re nearer or further away from meeting whatever workout goal you’ve set out for yourself. This let’s you change your plan accordingly  to ensure you’re able to achieve it as soon as possible.
  • Timely – Perhaps you need to meet a certain weight goal within a specific period of time. In that case, you’ll want to set a deadline for yourself. Just make sure that you give yourself a realistic deadline as you want to work towards something that you know you’ll be able to pull off in time.
  • Attainable – And of course, you’ll obviously want your workout goal to be something that you can actually achieve. You want something that you know you can work towards and something that you can look forward to attaining. Because if it’s neither of the two, then that cannot even be considered as a goal.

Remember to explain your goal carefully and in a detailed manner when writing it down in the workout plan. Do that and you’ll always have information on what it is that you want and you can easily come up with the means that will ensure you won’t lose focus on it.

Map Out Your Schedule

You’ll obviously want to come up with a schedule that will tell you when you’re supposed to be working out, but you also want to makes sure that it’s as schedule that you can keep up with. It’s important that you follow one that you’re comfortable with as it’s you who will determine the pace you’re going to set for yourself when it comes to working out. Just make sure that you give yourself enough time to actually exercise rather than taking too many breaks.

So first, make a list of all the obligations that you should fulfill on a daily basis. It can’t be helped if there are things that you need to do before you can do anything else like working out, so you need to point out what your obligations are and place them into the plan. That way, you’re able to see if there’s any free time in between that you can use to workout. It doesn’t matter if it’s an hour or even 30 minutes, there’s always enough time for you to get physically fit.

Also, make sure that you set dates wherein you don’t have to workout and just relax instead. While it’s important to get physically fit, it’s also important to get some well deserved rest. Just remember that you shouldn’t focus too much on resting as you still need to keep up with your routine if you want to ever reach your workout goal.

Choose the Best Place to Workout

If you want to be able to workout, then you’ll need to know the best place where you can do your exercises. Try to go with anywhere that you’re comfortable with and places that you can actually be in accordance with your day-to-day obligations.

You can always decide to go to the gym to do your daily exercises, but it’s also important to take note that you don’t have to be in a gym to workout. You can pretty much do it just about anywhere you please. For example, you can do a few push ups or sit ups during your free time in the office place. Or you can even decide to just workout from home. So long as it’s a place that you can access and one where you’re comfortable in working out in, then you should definitely consider it as a potential workout spot.

Create Your Workout Routine

Once you’ve managed to setup a schedule, determine your free time, and figure out the best place or places to workout, then the next step is to come up with your exercising routine. This is what will tell you about what kind of exercises you’re going to focus on and exactly when you’ll be doing them.

So the first step is to take a look at your schedule and see what kind of exercises you should be doing on certain days of the week. For example, you list down Mondays as the days you’ll be using to focus on working out your leg muscles. Then you write down that you’re going to use Wednesdays to focus on your abdominal muscles and so on. It’s important that you know which day you should focus on what so that you can make the most of your workout.

But following a routine over and over can get boring, especially if you’ve already been doing it for a long time. So what you can do to avoid things from getting repetitive is to mix things up. Maybe you can swap exercises from one day with another or maybe you can decide to find other workout places to go to. It’s important that you do this so that you can remain focuses on your goal and that it won’t feel like a chore to do.

 

Look Into Problems that Could Derail You From Achieving Your Goals

As you’re making your workout plan, you should realize that there will always be problems that could prevent you from realizing your goal. So what you need to do is factor in these problems that could occur and figure out the means in which you can deal with them.

These issues can be anything from sudden family outings or even days when you feel as if you might procrastinate and hold off from doing your exercises. Always think of work around to ensure that these problems won’t do anything to impede you from reaching your workout goal.
