5 Steps to Create an Estimate Sheet in MS Word
Step 1: Create a New Document
Create a new document in MS Word. Give the heading as Estimate Sheet for [project name]. Then save the document. Use a naming scheme that easy to search the document as well as to understand the contents without opening the document. Below that insert your company name and your company logo.
Step 2: Client Information
Below your company details enter your client details. This should include the name of the person to whom it is being addressed, the details of the company, which includes its name, address, contact number, email address, etc. Either below it or parallel to it, write the details of the document. E.g. if you have a document number that you have assigned to this write it down. Also, write the date when this was prepared and the name of the person preparing this (you in this case).
Step 3: Cost Breakdown
In the next stage, provide a clear breakdown of all the small tasks that would need to be done to complete the entire project. You would probably be engaging separate teams for separate tasks. Also, you would be needing tools and materials to complete the tasks. Include the costs of those as well.
Step 4: Labor Costs
To get the job done you are going to need manpower. Depending on the nature of the job as well as that of your company, you might need to hire people as well. They would be charging you on an hourly basis. So you need to insert that cost as well in this section. This is necessary as if the client feels that you are not devoting enough workforce to his project he might want to take his business elsewhere.
Step 5: Instructions and Notes
In the last step write down the instructions that need to be followed to complete the task. The client might want to take a look at how you to proceed with the task at hand, especially if he is experienced in this field. If your processes are not up to his standard, he might want to give it a second thought.
