DIYing your Party Banner
Coming home after a long trip is an experience a lot of people look forward to. If you are planning one, you can make it more awesome by planning a small party and by hanging a welcome banner. We have some Welcome Banner Templates to get you started. But to get to your end product, you are going to need a few tools. We’ll take you through the process.
- Choose your desired banner template. Take a look at any in this article and decide if you feel that the roll-up or flag type best suits your party. Why not both?
- Find some scrapbook or special paper. Any sort of printable material will work for your banner, but we recommend using either scrapbook paper or card stock. These are easy to find, they come in different colors and can be easily printed. These types of paper are thin enough to make cutting less of a hassle but are thick enough to withstand flag banner hanging.
- Get yourself some scissors and glue. Whatever type of craft scissors and adhesive material to keep your banner together you fancy, we’re pretty sure your banner will still end up impressive.
- Finally, time for ribbon or string. Just make sure it’s durable enough to endure the weight of the banner. Now it’s time to hang your banner up!

Getting Creative with your Banner
You’re probably starting to realize at this point that your banner is so simple to create. But you still want to make it as memorable as you could. Still running a bit low on creative juice for your banner ideas? Take a cue with these guidelines:
- Excess décor never hurt anyone. If you think you have just put too much glitter on your banner, you probably did and we are positive it looks stunning anyway. So expect pictures of your banner to end up on your social media feed in the weeks right after.
- Never be afraid of outrageous color combinations. Now is the time to cut loose on all those color pairing faux pas you’ve been holding on for so long. Being fearless with color is the best time to express that in a party. So if you think that a neon color palette will keep guests from coming over, you’ll probably need to rethink who you’re inviting over instead.
If you are organizing whatever type of party—be it a birthday, engagement, bachelorette, themed party, you name it—we have all sorts of banners to choose from. We never run out of ideas and templates for you, so make sure to check out our Printable Banner Templates section.
