9+ Best Line Vectors

You might have seen distinctive shapes used in logos and designs. Those types of designs are called vectors. Not everyone can make a design using vectors, though. It may seem easy and fun to do, but you actually need skill in getting acquainted with graphic designing.

But there is no need for you to learn from scratch now. We have collected samples of line vectors for you to download and customize without the hassle! For more samples of vector art, you can check out our Free Vector Art templates on our website.

What Are Vectors?

Vectors are used to describe anything that has both a direction and a magnitude. Vectors are something that mathematicians and engineers use to calculate a force that has a direction. A vector is a representation of both quantity and a direction at the same time.

They are usually drawn as arrows and lines to represent the vector’s magnitude. An example of this is wind and is usually drawn with lines to represent its direction on a map of airflow at different geographic locations.

What Are Vector Graphics?

Vector graphics are basically the creation of digital images through mathematical statements and sequence of commands that place objects such as lines and shapes in a given two-dimensional or three-dimensional space. Unlike the regular formats such as JPEGs, GIFs, and BMP images, vector graphics are not made of pixels. Instead, they are made up of paths like a starting point and an ending point. Along the way to the two, points, curves and angles are included as well. A path can be anything from a line, a square, a triangle, and even to a curvy shape. These paths can be used to make simple designs or complex diagrams.

Since the the format that is used for making vector graphics are not made up of pixels, they can be scaled to a larger size without sacrificing the quality of the image. This is particularly helpful when it comes to designing and creating logos. They can be small enough to be printed on business cards and can also be scaled big enough to be printed on billboards. This summarizes the use of vectors in graphic designing.

How to Create Vectors?

Before you are able to make vectors for designing, you must first access the right software program that gives you the ability to create them. Commonly used programs for vector graphics include Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, and EPS files.

EPS stands for Encapsulated PostScript. This file format is used for vector-based images in Adobe Illustrator. This file can contain texts and graphics. EPS files cannot be edited, however, as they can only be viewed. As a consolation, they can be cropped, rotated, and resized to suit your needs.

We hope that this article has provided you with some insights to how vectors can be used in graphic designing and as well as their importance. For more vector samples, you can check out more Abstract Vectors templates available for you to download and utilize on our website.
