What is Construction Timesheet?
A construction timesheet records the amount of time spent by people and materials in a construction project. It comes in many purposes. It can be used to track employees’ work time. It can also be a timetable of the projects, inventory, and expenses. It may also contain different logs such as the foremen logs, safety checks, incident reports, and other things such as invoices, payroll, equipment and materials, assets, production, field reports or documentation.
How to Make a Construction Timesheet
Timesheets help construction businesses to meet the target date of project completion, maintain the project budget, and succeed in time effectivity. This the reason why the accurate recording of time in any construction project is very important. If you want to achieve this for your construction project, below are the steps to make a construction timesheet.
1. Establish the Timesheet Objectives
Identify what the time sheet is for. As mentioned, construction timesheets have many uses and you have to pick only one. You can make another after creating one. It doesn’t mean that it is a recording material, you can place everything in one sheet of paper. A timesheet is not your ordinary time tracking sheet. It is more detailed than you thought. When you say a daily, weekly, and even monthly sheet for time recording for anyone and anything, it can be organized accordingly. Decide on the timesheet’s purpose and how long you plan to utilize it so you can construct it correctly.
2. Assemble the Divisions
Now that you have established the timesheet’s objectives, create divisions to comply them. For example, you are to record the number of labor hours of the workers. In a construction project, over time can’t be avoided just to finish it. So if this is the set purpose of the timesheet, you can set the time in and time out of each employee and a column that counts the number of hours rendered by each for the day or night. You can include a separate one for the hours rendered over the regular working time so the record will be ready for the timekeeping for the next payroll. You may also add a column that specifies their designation or function in the project, so the record will also tell if the necessary manpower needed for those specific times were all present or not.
3. Sign In the Details
With the labels you put on each column divisions, if the data is on hand, sign it in on the sheet. Be very particular in recording each time record of people or things. Since they are figures, you may interchange it unintentionally while transferring it on the timesheet. To be assured of everything, you may alternately delegate blank rows after each row of time record so you can give your eyes more focus to what you are recording on the sheet.
4. Record Regularly
Do not think about things later. When time should be recorded, you must record it on the sheet with no delay and hesitation. It is because you may forget the numbers when you do so. You may intertwine the time figures when you just save it for later. Save from time to time. “Time is gold.” So what you can do now, don’t do it later because that is what timesheets are for.
