What Is the Purpose of a School Report?
It's mainly used as a tool to keep track of a student's progress in his/her education. They often come in the form of report cards as those cover the performances of kindergarten, elementary, high school, and even college students. The information that this type of document provides is very valuable as it can help one figure out what improvements need to be made or what needs to be changed to ensure that students are able to have a worthwhile educational experience.
How to Create School Reports in Pages
1. Use a Template
Let's say that you've found a high school report card template that you want to use. What you'll have to do is start up Apple Pages by clicking on it from either the Dock, Launchpad, or the Applications folder. From there, you'll be directed to the template chooser and you simply need to go through the list of what's available and choose which one that you want to use.
2. Include Any Basic Information That's Needed
Just about every school report will require you to include information on a specific student. Aside from his or her name, you'll also have to put in the school year that he/she is participating in, the grading period and whatever year and section that student belongs to. You may also have to include the name of the student's advisor if you think that it's necessary. Don't forget to include the complete name of the school as well as its logo; it's best that you position both at the top of the report.
3. Point Out What You're Reporting On
Let's say that you're making a report on a single student's ability to perform on a specific project. What you'll have to share here would be the name of the project, the task the student is meant to complete, and if he/she managed to complete. If you're reporting on a student's educational performance, then you'll have to point out each subject, the grade the student attained for each, and information on your school's grading system. Basically, no matter what it is that you decide to put in, make it as clear and straightforward as possible.
4. Provide a Comment Section
If you think that this is absolutely necessary, then you'll want to include it in your report. The comment section allows you to go more into detail regarding what it is that can be done for the student to grow and improve or what challenges he/she is facing that needs to be dealt with. When writing down any comment or suggestion, be sure to keep the tone formal and respectful at all times.
5. Have a Place for Signatures
Handing out any school-related reports will usually require the recipient to place his/her signature unto the document. This is required to confirm the identity of whoever is responsible for accepting whatever information is being shared. You'll also want to put in the date in which the document was received as that information can be useful for addressing concerns that involve "when". Make sure that you provide the necessary spaces for each.
