Step 1: Create or Open an Existing Presentation in Google Slides
First of all, you have to create a new Google Slides presentation or open an existing one. You can also download and open any of our Google Slides templates to get started. Use any web browser you prefer and type docs.google.com/presentation on the URL bar. That should bring you to the official home page of Google Slides where you can start a presentation.

Step 2: Go to Slide and Click Change Theme
After opening a presentation, look for the Slide command in the menu bar. Click it and go to Change Theme. You can find it at the bottom of the box as shown in the image above. In addition, you can also configure your theme by going to Edit Theme just above Change Theme.

Step 3: Select a Theme
After you click Change Theme, a column will appear on the right side of your screen showing different themes with unique layouts. Browse through them and choose a theme that’s best for your presentation. There are many that you can choose from and they’re free to use. You can find themes such as Beach Day, Coral, Spearmint, and more. It’s that easy to set a theme in Google Slides.

Step 4: Upload Custom Themes
If none of the free themes caught your eye, you can change theme colors in Google Slides or better yet, upload a custom theme. If you opt for the former, click Import Theme and go to Upload as shown in the picture above. You can select a theme in other presentations stored on your computer. It’s so easy and your custom theme will be displayed in your Google Slides presentation in no time.
