What is a Contract?
A contract is a legally binding agreement that recognizes and governs both the rights and duties of the parties that are involved. Many different negotiations between individuals and businesses usually result in the creation and signing of a contract. A typical contract usually involves the exchange of goods, services, money, or promises of any of those. Know that all terms and conditions in the contract are legally enforceable once the parties involved have affixed their signatures into the document.
How to Create a Contract in Apple Pages
1. Start By Making the Document Via Apple Pages
Since you will be using the program to make the contract, you must first learn how to go about in doing so. In order to open Apple Pages in Mac, simply click the icon in the Dock, Launchpad, or the Applications folder. From here, you will be directed to the Template Chooser where you can decide what contract template you want to use. If you want to start from scratch, then you simply need to choose the one labeled as "Blank".
2. Identify the Parties Involved
The first thing to do when making a contract is to provide a statement that points out the parties that are going to be involved in the agreement. When doing this, you must be sure to include the complete names of the individual and/or businesses that you'll need to write down. You will also have to point out their roles. For example, if you're making a purchase contract, then the document must point out which party is the buyer and which one is the seller.
3. Lay Out All the Terms
It is important that whatever contract you end up making is able to specify the exact terms of the contract agreement. For example, if the agreement is based on the exchange of goods and/or services, then the contract must specify what those goods and/or services are along with what the receiving party will provide in return. Also, you may want to include any additional terms such as that pertaining to confidentiality on certain pieces of information or how disputes between both parties must be settles.
4. Provide a Termination Clause
There are some business or service contracts that contain a termination clause so that the parties involved will know how to legally exit the agreement. It is very important that the matters concerning contract termination are specified to ensure that both parties will not accidentally take part in actions that could cause them to be held responsible for breaking the agreement.
5. Include Any Additional Details
If you want to make sure that the parties involved are able to fulfill their obligations on time, then you'll want to provide exact dates in which they must be done. To make sure that both parties are aware as to what is being exchanged, then you'll want to provide a specific description for whatever is being provided by one or both parties on the purchase contract itself. Basically, just do not forget to include any important information to avoid misunderstandings or any other issues.
6. Create an Area for Signatures
Lastly, you will need to provide spaces where all parties involved in the official contract can place their names and signatures. Having both shows proof that those involved have agreed to the terms of the contract and are willing to fulfill their obligations to one another. Also, leave a space for where you can provide the date in which the contract was signed.
