What Is the Purpose of a Medical ID Card?
During a medical emergency, doctors or nurses are normally required to present their ID cards to show that they are capable of providing the required medical service and/or treatment. Think of it as a badge that proves that an individual has the skills and knowledge to perform certain actions or make the necessary recommendations. This type of ID card is also very useful for ensuring the protection of certain medical facilities and resources from those that do not have the proper authorization. So if you're part of the staff in any hospital or medical institution, always make sure to carry around your medical ID card with you.
How to Make a Medical ID Card in Adobe Photoshop
1. Make Use of Adobe Photoshop
If you are focusing heavily on the design and layout aspect when making an ID card, then this is the program that you will want to use. Adobe Photoshop has many different tools for you to utilize. It's because of the many options that it provides that most people tend to use the program for their card making needs. If you find using the program difficult, then there are a good number of Photoshop tutorials online that can teach you everything you need to know.
2. Decide on the Orientation and Design
Start with the card's orientation to determine how information should be displayed. Do you think that it would be better if it were in portrait or landscape? Consider what information the card has to show as that can help you decide. As for the design, there are lots of samples of medical ID cards that you can find online that you can use as references.
3. Place Information on the Medical Institution
Start by placing the medica insitution's logo. This is usually found at the top of the card but where it ultimately falls to is your decision. Make sure that you choose one that's of high quality and that the size is just enough for it to be clear and not take up too much space. Once that's done, place the medical institution's name, complete address, and contact details onto the card.
4. Put In the ID Card Owner's Personal Information
Much like the previous step, you'll want the card to have a picture of its owner. When choosing what to use, it is best that you go with one that looks appropriate and professional. Next is to simply place the card owner's name, job position title, birth date and contact details into the card. Take note that most medical ID cards also include the ID or employee number. If there are any other additional details that you think needs to be included, then be sure to place those at the back of the card.
5. Consider Including Security Features
Considering the fact that most medical facilities are strictly off-limits to those without proper authorization, it is best that your medical ID cards contain certain security features. One thing that you can do is put in magnetic strips or bar codes that can be read by card readers to confirm whether one can gain access to certain facilities or resources. Another is to have each card have the signatures of their owners to prevent the creation of fake IDs. Consider all possible security measures and choose the ones that you think are the most effective.
