How does you analyse the Discriminant validity?
Step 1: Development of the discriminant function
The discriminant analysis is the technique for studying group differences. More certainly, it provides the method of examining the extent to which the multiple predictor variables are relayed to the categorical criteria which are group membership. How does Discriminant’s validity function?
A researcher requires to define exactly what trait they are measuring if they are to maintain good validity. The discriminant validity tests are widely used in psychology showing that the test of a concept is not particularly correlated with other tests designed to measure theoretically different concepts.
It is constructed very rarely exist independently because the human brain is a complex machine and is made up of an interlinked web of emotions, reasoning, and senses. Convergent and discriminant validities are both referred to as the subcategories or subtypes of constructing validity. The significant thing to recognize is that they work together with if you can show that you have evidence for both convergent and discriminant validity, then you’ve by definition demonstrate that you have evidence for construct validity. But, neither one alone is good enough for establishing construct validity. It is the two inter-locking propositions.
To estimate the degree to which any two measures are related to each other as we typically use the correlation coefficient. And, that is how you look at the patterns of the intercorrelations among the measures. The correlation between theoretically particular measures must be high whereas the correlation between the theoretically dissimilar measures must be low.
