Step 1: Development of the discriminant function
The discriminant analysis is the technique for studying group differences. More certainly, it provides the method of examining the extent to which the multiple predictor variables are relayed to the categorical criteria which are group membership. There are situations where the technique is useful including those in which the researcher wants to assess which of a number of continuous variables best differentiate the group of individuals or where they wish to predict group membership relying on discriminant function.
Step 2: Examination among the predictor variables

Validation results showed that the method in the paper was a better predictor of driver’s tendency than previous methods, and the new model gives a basis for further study of dynamic characteristics and recognition of driver’s propensity.
Step 3: Determination of predictor variables
Each perspective has its strengths and weaknesses and brings something unique to our understanding of human behavior. Step 4: Identifying external and internal validity
These are the two types of validity tests that are used in psychological research and these are the external and internal validity. External validity is the extent to which the result of the research study can be generalized to different circumstances, different groups of people, different settings, different conditions, etc. Internal validity is the extent to which the study is free from flaws and that any difference in the measurement is due to the independent variable and nothing other than this.
Step 5: Evaluation of these tests
One of the biggest concerns when establishing the psychological tests whether or not it actually measures what we think it is measuring. Validity is the extent to which the tests measures and it is vital for the tests to be valid in order for the results to be properly applied and interpreted. How does Discriminant’s validity function?
A researcher requires to define exactly what trait they are measuring if they are to maintain good validity. The discriminant validity tests are widely used in psychology showing that the test of a concept is not particularly correlated with other tests designed to measure theoretically different concepts.
It is constructed very rarely exist independently because the human brain is a complex machine and is made up of an interlinked web of emotions, reasoning, and senses. Any type of program must untangle these complex interactions and create that you are only testing the desired construct. It is practically impossible to prove beyond the doubt, so researchers collect enough evidence to defend their findings from criticism.
Convergent and discriminant validities are both referred to as the subcategories or subtypes of constructing validity. The significant thing to recognize is that they work together with if you can show that you have evidence for both convergent and discriminant validity, then you’ve by definition demonstrate that you have evidence for construct validity. But, neither one alone is good enough for establishing construct validity. It is the two inter-locking propositions.
To estimate the degree to which any two measures are related to each other as we typically use the correlation coefficient. And, that is how you look at the patterns of the intercorrelations among the measures. The correlation between theoretically particular measures must be high whereas the correlation between the theoretically dissimilar measures must be low.
