Method 1

Step 1: Sign in to your Gmail account.

Step 2: Click on the Settings icon, present at the top right corner. It is present in the form of a gear.

Step 3: This is a drop down menu. Click on the downward arrow and select Settings.

Step 4: Scroll down to find the Signature section. This is under the General tab, which is open by default.

Step 5: In the Signatures section, enter the text you wish to be seen after every email. Usually this includes the name, designation, company name and contact number.

Step 6: Below the dialog box, you will notice a line stating “Insert this signature before quoted text and remove the “—” line that precedes it.” There will be a checkbox in front of this. Tick the box. This implies that every time you create an email now, the new signature will be inserted by default.

Step 7: You also have the option to customise your own signature with buttons at the top of the dialog box.

Step 8: Once you have created the signature, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Save Changes”

Method 2

Addition of images to the signature

Step1: The image needs to be uploaded on to an image hosting service. To avail this service, the image must be available online. It cannot be used directly from the computer. Such images can be uploaded on a number of sites such as Photobucket, Blogger and Google Plus.

Step 2: Once uploaded, the image URL needs to be copied. As per the image hosting site, you may be already given the image URL, but if not, you need to right click the image and select the tab “Copy image URL”

Step 3: Adding the image- You need to click on the “Insert Image” button present above the signature field, which will open a new window. The image URL has to be pasted into the field given in the new window. By pasting the correct URL, you shall be able to see a preview of the image below the field.

Step 4: Adjusting the image size- Making use of a large image will reduce the size of the signature. Once the image is added, click on it within the signature field to see the size options. Below the image, you can choose amongst ‘Small’, ‘Medium’ and ‘Large’, as well as ‘Original Size’. Since this image is linked to but not actually part of the email, you need not worry about uploading it every time an email is sent.

Step 5: After being satisfied with the appearance of your signature, you can select the tab ‘Save Changes’ in order to save the changes, present at the bottom of the Settings menu.

By following the above steps, you can create a signature in Gmail. This signature will be in-charge of your identity, making your presence felt at every location. Clients who wish to contact you do not have to search for contact details any more.
