As one of the country’s leading research and education institutions, the [University of La Push] (“University”) is committed to providing its students and academic members with innovative learning. Thus, the University focuses on strengthening research endeavors. This Research Policy Handbook (“Policy”) is created to outline appropriate guidelines and protocols for research and spread awareness of the importance of the conduct of research, research procedures, and publishing methods among undergraduate and graduate students.

Scope

The terms and conditions of this Policy apply to all students of all levels taking research subjects. This Policy also applies to employed professionals in the University who publish research papers and participate in various research projects for the University Index Research. Full-time, part-time, and supplemental faculty members are covered by this Policy as well.

Policy Guidelines

  • PROPOSALS

The University encourages students and faculty members to submit research proposals that are in line with the University’s current research agenda. Students with research subjects are only allowed to participate in this endeavor. The University’s Research Committee will handle the approval of research proposals.

  • FUNDING

The University will only fund research projects conducted by the Research and Development Department. However, faculty members can apply for funding if their research project will benefit the University. On the other hand, students will be responsible for their research funds, since it is one of their requirements for graduation.

  • REQUIREMENT

Both full-time and part-time faculty members are required to complete at least research output within three academic years. This may be done in collaboration with other faculty members or individually.

  • SUBJECT

Students and faculty members are allowed to conduct research projects according to the requirements of their chosen subject matter. However, procedures and techniques must align with the established Research Ethics in consideration of health and safety, privacy, and other basic human rights and the law.

  • STUDENT RESEARCH

Students must coordinate with the University’s Research Committee to facilitate them while conducting research projects. This is to streamline in-house research review during the entire process. Moreover, the research paper format will depend on the subject matter. For more information about this, visit the Office of Research and Development at the main building.

  • COPYRIGHT

Researchers, including students and faculty members, must sign the University’s Patent and Copyright Agreement. All outputs submitted and published under the University’s research program will be included in the Research Index.

  • BREACH

All misconduct during the research process will be reported to the University’s Research Committee. The committee will investigate the matter. If there are violations found, the research will be put on hold, with its continuation subject to the investigation’s final results. Research misconduct includes plagiarism and falsification of documents. This also covers any violation of the University’s Research Ethics.
