1.1 Purpose

The purpose of this Drug Testing and Substance Abuse Policy Manual is to establish guidelines and procedures for maintaining a safe and drug-free workplace. This policy outlines our commitment to the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the community, as well as our legal obligations and consequences for violations.

1.2 Scope

1.4 Definitions

1.4.1 Illicit Drugs

For this policy, "illicit drugs" refer to any substances that we have classified as illegal under federal, state, or local laws. This includes but is not limited to drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opioids, and synthetic drugs.

1.4.2 Prescription Drugs

"Prescription drugs" are medications that people have legally obtained through a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider. These drugs are intended for personal medical use and should be taken strictly per the prescription's instructions.

Section 2: Policy Statement

2.1 Prohibition

2.1.1 Prohibition of Unlawful Drug Use:

2.1.2 Prohibition of Misuse of Legal Prescription Drugs or Alcohol: 

Additionally, this policy prohibits the misuse of legally prescribed medications and alcohol during working hours. Employees who are prescribed medications that have the potential to impair their job performance are required to report this to their supervisor and may be subject to work restrictions or alternative assignments when necessary.

2.2 Compliance

We expect all employees to comply with this policy and applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding drug and alcohol use.

2.3 Employee Responsibilities

2.3.1 Awareness and Understanding: 

It is the responsibility of every employee to be aware of this policy, understand its implications, and seek clarification when necessary. Employees with Questions regarding this policy will direct any of these questions to the HR department.

2.3.2 Compliance with Testing Procedures: 

We expect employees to comply with all drug testing procedures as we have outlined in Section 3 of this policy. This includes pre-employment testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, post-accident testing, and any other required testing. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action.

2.4 Management Responsibilities

2.4.1 Supervisory Oversight:

Managers and supervisors play a crucial role in ensuring that their subordinates are aware of and comply with this policy. They are responsible for communicating the policy to their team members and providing guidance on the reporting process for suspected violations.

2.4.2 Support and Resources:

Section 3: Drug Testing Procedures

4.3 Testing Frequency

6.4 Record Keeping

a. We will maintain the records of disciplinary actions related to violations of this policy in the employee's personnel file.

b. We will document the records of successful rehabilitation efforts.
