Job Overview

As the HR Specialist for our interior design division, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of human resources operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and compliance. You will work closely with department managers and senior leadership to address HR-related issues and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values. Your ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively, and navigate complex HR matters will be essential in supporting the growth and success of our division.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition

  • Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, develop job descriptions, and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent.

  • Source candidates through various channels, including job boards, social media, networking events, and employee referrals, and conduct interviews and screenings to assess qualifications and fit.

  • Coordinate the hiring process from job posting to offer acceptance, including background checks, reference checks, and new hire paperwork.

Onboarding and Orientation

  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles and our organization.

  • Conduct new hire orientation sessions to introduce employees to our company culture, policies, and procedures, and provide guidance on benefits enrollment and other administrative tasks.

  • Partner with department managers to develop and implement department-specific onboarding plans and training programs as needed.

Employee Relations and Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and resource for employees and managers on HR-related matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.

  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints or grievances, and work with management to address and resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.

  • Develop and implement initiatives to promote employee engagement, morale, and retention, such as recognition programs, team-building activities, and professional development opportunities.

Compliance and Policy Administration

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including EEO, ADA, FMLA, and FLSA.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices and industry trends, and recommend policy updates and revisions as needed to align with legal requirements and organizational objectives.

  • Administer HR policies and procedures, including employee handbook updates, leave management, and benefits administration, and ensure consistent application across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a design or creative industry setting.

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations, with experience in handling employee relations issues and ensuring compliance.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
