Job Overview

As the Interior Design Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for establishing and implementing quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure the integrity and consistency of our design deliverables. You will collaborate closely with our design team, project managers, and other stakeholders to identify quality requirements, assess design performance, and implement corrective actions as needed. Your expertise in quality management and your commitment to continuous improvement will be essential in driving the success of our interior design projects.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Planning

  • Develop and implement quality assurance plans, processes, and procedures to ensure that design deliverables meet established quality standards and requirements.

  • Define quality metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of our design processes and identify areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with project managers and design team leads to integrate quality assurance activities into project planning and execution.

Design Review and Evaluation

  • Conduct comprehensive design reviews and evaluations to assess the quality, accuracy, and compliance of design deliverables with project requirements, industry standards, and best practices.

  • Identify and document design defects, discrepancies, and non-conformities, and work with the design team to develop and implement corrective actions and preventive measures.

  • Provide timely feedback and recommendations to designers and project teams to address quality issues and improve design performance.

Process Improvement and Compliance

  • Continuously monitor and evaluate our design processes and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and optimization.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing interior design practices, and implement measures to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to quality requirements.

  • Lead or participate in quality audits, inspections, and reviews to assess compliance with internal quality standards and external requirements.

Training and Knowledge Sharing

  • Develop and deliver training programs and workshops to educate our design team and project stakeholders on quality assurance principles, practices, and tools.

  • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within our organization by sharing best practices, lessons learned, and success stories.

  • Serve as a resource and subject matter expert on quality assurance topics, providing guidance and support to our design team and project teams as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, or related field, preferably in the interior design or construction industry.

  • Strong knowledge of quality management principles, methodologies, and tools, such as ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen.

  • Familiarity with relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing interior design practices, including building codes, ADA requirements, and sustainability standards (e.g., LEED).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes of quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Certification in quality management (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) or related field is a plus.
