Job Overview

As an Interior Design Intern, you will work closely with our design team to support various aspects of interior design projects, including research, conceptualization, space planning, and presentation preparation. You will have the opportunity to contribute ideas, assist with design development, and gain exposure to the entire design process from concept to completion. This internship is designed to provide you with practical experience and mentorship to help you launch your career in interior design.

Key Responsibilities

Design Support

  • Assist with research, brainstorming, and concept development for interior design projects, under the guidance of our design team.

  • Contribute ideas and creative solutions to design challenges, and participate in design charrettes and brainstorming sessions.

  • Assist with space planning, layout design, and material selection for residential, commercial, and hospitality projects.

Presentation and Documentation

  • Assist with the preparation of design presentations, mood boards, and design boards, using software such as Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp.

  • Support the documentation of design concepts, specifications, and drawings, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of project files, samples, and materials library.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with our design team and other departments to support project coordination and communication.

  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and client presentations, and take notes as needed.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, seeking guidance and feedback to enhance your learning and development.

Learning and Professional Development

  • Take initiative to learn new skills and techniques related to interior design, and seek opportunities for professional development and growth.

  • Participate in training sessions, workshops, and networking events to expand your knowledge and build relationships within the design community.

  • Reflect on your internship experience, identify areas for improvement, and set goals for your future career in interior design.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field, with a strong interest in pursuing a career in interior design.

  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and SketchUp, with the ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies.

  • Strong visual and spatial awareness, with a keen eye for design aesthetics and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and eagerness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
