Using this checklist can help ensure that a restaurant provides equal access and accommodation to individuals with disabilities, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all patrons.

Exterior Accessibility

Entrance

• Is the entrance wide enough for wheelchair users to enter comfortably?

• Is there a ramp or a step-free entrance available?

• Are there handrails on both sides of the ramp, if applicable?

Doorways

• Are doorways wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs?

• Are doors easy to open, and is there sufficient clearance space?

Parking

• Are designated accessible parking spaces clearly marked and conveniently located near the entrance?

• Is there an adequate number of accessible parking spots according to local regulations?

Interior Accessibility

Floor Plan

• Is there ample space between tables for easy navigation?

• Are there designated pathways for wheelchair users and individuals with mobility aids?

• Are tables adjustable to accommodate customers of varying heights and needs?

Seating

• Do you offer a variety of seating options, including chairs with and without arms?

• Is there a designated area for customers using mobility aids?

• Are there visual markers to aid individuals with visual impairments in navigating the space?

Restrooms

• Are restrooms easily accessible and marked?

• Is there at least one accessible restroom available, equipped with grab bars, accessible sinks, and sufficient space for wheelchair maneuverability?

• Are restroom doors easy to open and close?

Lighting and signage

• Is the lighting sufficient and evenly distributed throughout the restaurant?

• Are signs easy to read and placed at eye level?

• Are menus available in large print or braille for customers with visual impairments?

Additional Considerations

Staff Training

• Have staff members been trained to assist customers with disabilities?

• Are staff members knowledgeable about accessible features and services offered by the restaurant?

Communication
