Can I use a purchased item in a freelance project or contract work for a client?
Yes, if the client intends to sell more than 600 copies of the End Product that you created, you will need to purchase an Extended License or multiple Standard Licenses. If you create the End Product for a client, your rights to purchased items are transferred from you to your client.
What is Personal Use, Commercial Work, Contracted Work, Client Work, and etc.?
Both the Standard and Extended Licenses allow for Personal Use and Commercial Work of many kinds.
Personal use allows the use of our products for personal projects. The license for personal use grants you an exclusive and lifetime license to view, download, and copy the templates, subject to the following restrictions:
- In using the template, you may not charge fees or receive any remuneration from a third-party
- You are prohibited from reselling, relicensing, sublicensing, renting, leasing, or using the templates in any form of advertising
The rights, titles, and ownership of the templates shall remain exclusively with Template.net and shall not be transferred to you.
Commercial work means that the use of the template makes money for the user. The license for commercial use grants you an exclusive, non-transferable, and worldwide license. Unless otherwise provided for in this Agreement, the intellectual property rights of the purchased templates are assigned to you. This is is similar to Contracted Work or Client Work.
How many times can I use a purchased item?
One time, A purchased item may be used in a one-time project. Any End Product included in a one-time project must be directly related under a single concept. For more clients, you will need to purchase an Extended License or multiple Standard Licenses.
What are the End Product for Sale requirements?
End Product for Sale must be significantly different than the original Item and requires time, effort, and skill to produce. End Products must not be used or sold in a way that is directly competitive with the original item that you purchased. End Products must not redistribute the original Item to any third parties in a manner that allows for the extraction of the original item.
- An End Product must be a unique implementation of the item purchased, often requiring limited copy and content changes.
- For example, if you purchase a resume template, you may use the item for yourself or a client after having input personal information (you may not resell it as stock).
- Another example, if you purchase a template and include it in a design for a single, paid client, this is not considered an End Product for Sale. If you purchase that same template and incorporate it into a design and sell it to multiple people, that is considered an End Product for Sale
Is there any limit to the number of impressions for my End Product?
Yes, there is a limit to the number of impressions for your End Product if you purchase a Standard license. For unlimited impressions buy an Extended License.
Can I redistribute the items that I have purchased?
No, the items purchased are for your use only. You may not include the original purchased items (or source files) in any distributed end product.
Do I have to give credit for an item when I use it?
Yes, when you download and use our Free Templates.
How much does an Extended License cost?
Template.net has set prices for both the Standard and Extended Licenses, so the prices will vary from item to item.
Do all Template.net products offer an Extended License option?
Yes, all products do have an Extended License option.
Can I buy an Extended License for the items I already purchased?
Yes, if there is an Extended License option available for the item that you have already purchased.
You can purchase the Extended License and send a request to our support team for a standard license refund.
How are Free Templates licensed?
All Items offered as Free templates are licensed under Free License with Credit.
Can I trademark a design I created using marketplace items such as a logo?
No, you may not register an item or the end product incorporating the item with a trademark — not even logos. If you use the item to create a logo for yourself or a client, keep in mind that third parties can use the item too even with another logo. Contact us if you really are looking for an item to trademark.
Can I convert a purchased website template into an HTML website or theme for myself or a client?
Yes, the Standard License covers this usage.
Can I convert a purchased website template into a theme to sell or distribute (even for free)?
Are all WordPress themes sold under the GNU General Public License (GPL)?
Yes. Because WordPress is distributed under a GPL license, all derivative work (including WordPress themes) must also be distributed under the same license.

Can I resell a WordPress theme that I did not create?
This is technically allowed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), however, we do not allow it on Template.net as we only want to offer original, unique items to our community.
Except as expressly permitted in this Agreement, you shall be restricted from:
- Selling or distributing the templates to other online databases
- Sharing the templates with a third party
- Posting or distributing the templates in downloadable formats
- Using, reproducing, distributing, modifying, or displaying the templates in any manner that is libelous, defamatory, or indecent
- Removing any copyright notice which is embedded in the templates
- Incorporating the templates with a trademark or service mark
Unless you have purchased the extended license, you are restricted from using the templates in connection with the goods or services which you intend to resell or distribute. You are also prohibited from using the products in electronic templates which you intend to resell.
Copyright and Trademark
Template.net shall retain and own all the copyrights to the templates. As such, you cannot copy, modify, distribute or sell the templates without our consent and authorization. The templates are protected by the international treaty which grants us the ownership and intellectual property rights.
You can not use the templates, in whole or in part, for the creation of a trademark or service mark.
The unauthorized use, reproduction, modification, sale or distribution, in whole or in part, of the templates shall be subject to civil and criminal penalties.
Warranty and Limitation of Liability
Template.net warrants that our products are free from any material defect __ days from delivery. In the event of a breach in the warranty, the sole remedy is the replacement of the product or a refund of the license fee which you have paid for at the option of Template.net.
Template.net makes no expressed or implied warranty on the merchantability or fitness for any specific purpose. Neither Template.net nor its representatives shall be liable to you or any other third party for any general, direct, indirect, incidental damages or any other damages arising out of this license or the use thereof.
In the event that Template.net is liable to you for any reason, our liability shall only be limited to the sum paid by you for the use of the Product.
You represent and warrant that you have the right and authority to enter into this Agreement. If you download any of the templates on behalf of a corporation, association, organization, or entity, this Agreement shall apply to such entity. In such a case, you represent and warrant that you have the right and authority to bind the said entity to this Agreement.
Termination and Revocation
Template.net has the right and authority to terminate your rights under this Agreement without notice in the event that you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
Template.net also reserves the right to revoke the license afforded to you for a just cause.
Upon the termination of your license, you must immediately stop using the template and delete or destroy the files containing the templates from your computer or storage. You must also ensure that your clients do likewise.
The license granted to you under this Agreement shall not be assigned to another person or entity.
B. Unauthorized Use of the Templates
You agree to indemnify Template.net from any claims of loss or damage arising out of the unauthorized use of the templates, in whole or in the part, or for the breach of any of the terms and conditions in this Agreement.
In the event that a provision of this License Agreement is deemed to be invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of such provision shall be severed.
