Free Portland Itinerary

Morning:

• Depart from Portland early in the morning to make the most of your day trip.

• Drive east along the Columbia River Highway, soaking in the scenic beauty as you go.

Late Morning:

• Stop at Vista House at Crown Point for panoramic views of the Columbia River Gorge and the surrounding mountains.

• Take some time to explore the historic Vista House, which offers exhibits on the region's history and geology.

Midday:

• Continue driving along the Columbia River Highway to reach Multnomah Falls, the tallest waterfall in Oregon.

• Take a short hike to the viewing platform for a stunning close-up view of the falls cascading over 600 feet down a basalt cliff.

Afternoon:

• Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the scenic picnic areas near Multnomah Falls, or head to one of the nearby towns such as Hood River or Cascade Locks for lunch at a local restaurant.

• If you're feeling adventurous, consider taking a hike on one of the many trails in the area, such as the Wahkeena Falls Loop or the Horsetail Falls- Oneonta Gorge Loop.

Late Afternoon:

• Visit one of the other waterfalls in the area, such as Latourell Falls or Bridal Veil Falls, for more breathtaking views and photo opportunities.

• Take some time to relax and soak in the natural beauty of the Columbia River Gorge before beginning your journey back to Portland.

Evening:

• Return to Portland in the evening, taking in the sunset over the river as you drive back.
