Job Title: News Director
Channel 35 is seeking a proactive and experienced News Director to drive the editorial direction of our dynamic newsroom. As the News Director, you will be responsible for shaping and maintaining our editorial standards, in alignment with the organization's mission and values. The News Director will also lead a talented team of journalists, reporters, producers, and other newsroom staff, ensuring high-quality news coverage, special reports, and feature stories.
Responsibilities and Duties
As the News Director, you will: Ensure consistent high-quality news coverage. Set the editorial direction and maintain the standards of the newsroom. Lead and manage a team of journalists, reporters, and producers. Plan news coverage, special reports, and feature stories in coordination with other newsroom professionals. Collaborate with newsroom leaders to enhance news production and improve editorial processes.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
Ideal contenders for the News Director position should have Proven leadership in a newsroom setting. Strong commitment to editorial integrity and journalistic ethics. Excellent storytelling skills and journalistic judgment. Previous experience in planning and producing news coverage. High level of initiative, creativity, and excellent problem-solving skills. Nimble, adaptable approach to managing a diverse team.
Experience
We prefer candidates with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable role, preferably within a broadcast or digital news setting.
Additional Requirements
The ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is vital.
