Job Summary
The Grocery Store Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for customers and employees. This role involves implementing safety policies, conducting regular inspections, and addressing any safety hazards. Key Responsibilities
Safety Inspections and Audits
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspections of the store, including aisles, storage areas, and parking lots.
Identify potential hazards and take corrective actions promptly.
Document and report findings to the Store Manager and Safety Manager.
Policy Implementation
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Ensure that all safety protocols are up-to-date and communicated to all staff members.
Employee Training
Organize and conduct safety training sessions for all employees.
Provide guidance on proper lifting techniques, emergency procedures, and safe handling of equipment and chemicals.
Ensure new employees receive thorough safety orientation.
Emergency Response
Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including fire evacuation and medical emergency procedures.
Conduct regular drills to ensure staff preparedness.
Serve as the point of contact for any emergency situations.
Accident Investigation
Investigate any accidents or incidents that occur on the premises.
Compile detailed reports and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences.
Liaise with local authorities if necessary.
Compliance
Stay updated on health and safety regulations and ensure the store remains compliant.
Prepare for and assist with safety audits conducted by external agencies.
Customer Safety

Qualifications
Education
A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required; additionally, obtaining a certification in occupational health and safety or a related field is considered advantageous.
Experience
The candidate should possess prior experience in a role that focuses on safety, with a strong preference for experience gained within a retail or grocery store setting.
