Church Outreach Program Meeting Minutes

1. Opening Prayer
Pastor Maria Johnson opened the meeting with a prayer, asking for guidance, compassion, and a renewed commitment to the outreach mission in 2051.
2. Review of Previous Minutes
The minutes from the December 10, 2050, meeting were reviewed. A minor adjustment was made regarding the timeline for the winter coat drive.
Minutes approved as amended.
3. Updates on Outreach Initiatives
Winter Coat Drive:
The winter coat drive held on December 20, 2050, was highly successful, distributing over 300 coats to local families.
Feedback from participants showed a need to increase sizes for young adults in the next drive.
The next coat drive is to be held in October 2051; preliminary planning will begin in June.
Thanksgiving Meal Distribution:
Recap: Volunteers served 150 meals to families on Thanksgiving Day at the church.
This year’s goal is to reach 200 meals, and outreach to local farms and food suppliers for donations was discussed.
4. New Initiatives for 2051
"Back to School" Backpack Drive:
Proposed to provide school supplies and backpacks for children in need before the new school year starts.
Target date for distribution: August 1, 2051.
Volunteers are to start collecting supplies in May, with weekly updates from Outreach Coordinator David Smith.
Weekly Community Prayer Walks:
A new initiative to invite the community to participate in weekly prayer walks.
The first walk is scheduled for March 3, 2051, at 8:00 AM.
Pastor Johnson will announce this in upcoming services and invite volunteers to lead small groups.
5. Fundraising Ideas
Spring Bake Sale and Auction:
Proposed date: April 15, 2051, from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the church courtyard.
Suggested items: homemade baked goods, handcrafted items donated by church members, and auction baskets.
Volunteers Sarah and Emma offered to lead the planning and will send a list of needed contributions to the congregation by February 1.
Community Car Wash:
Tentative date: June 10, 2051.
Goal: Raise funds for the Holiday Outreach Program.
Kevin Torres and James Kim will coordinate with local businesses for supplies and potential sponsorships.
