National Coming Out Day is celebrated every year on October 11. In 2022 and 2023, this annual celebration falls on a Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

National Coming Out Day was first celebrated in 1988—the year it was inaugurated by Jean O’Leary and Robert Eichberg who are LGBT rights activists. It has always been celebrated to support and uplift the spirits of gays, lesbians, and bisexuals who’ll reveal their true selves. It’s also inspired by the Lesbian and Gay Rights March on Washington on October 11, 1987, and marks the anniversary of that said event. Every year since then, National Coming Out Day has been observed with a unique theme such as “Coming Out Still Matters” in 2013 and 2014.

5. Finalize your National Coming Out Day Instagram post.

Lastly, don’t forget to save your National Coming Out Day Instagram post draft. Select the button in the upper right corner of the Editor page and select the Save button which displays a floppy disk icon. You can upload it to Instagram on October 11. You may also upload it as your Instagram story.
