8+ Bowling Score Sheet Templates

To all bowlers out there, do you remember what got you into playing bowling? I do. I’m not a good bowler, but I remember why I started to love bowling. It was all because of Fred Flintstone. Do you still remember who that is? If not, he’s a cartoon character created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera who’s very good at the sport. He may be a fictional character, but he sure did inspire me to start playing bowling.

Bowling may look like a simple sport, all you have to do is knock ten pins down with a ball, but it’s actually not. You need to properly know how to make the ball spin at a proper angle to be able to do this. You also need to be comfortable with the ball you’re using, since these balls vary in size and weight. Some bowlers even have their own bowling ball to really get the right feeling of it. And of course, just like any other sport, you really need to have proper posture to avoid straining your back, especially here that you’re handling heavy bowling balls. Ready to play bowling but don’t have score sheets? Not to worry, our website contains Score Sheet Template that you can download.

All about Bowling

I’m sure you know what bowling is, but here are a few facts you might not know or just to refresh your memory:

  • Bowling is a sport that involves the use of a bowling ball and ten pins.
  • It is played in a bowling alley with a shiny, wooden floor. Each lane on the bowling alley contains deep hazards on each side called gutters to which the player must avoid.
  • The player is positioned at one end of the lane and the pins are placed on the opposite end, and the objective of the player is to knock as much pins as possible in two bowls.
  • Knocking it all down in one bowl is called a strike, and knocking down the remaining pins is called a spare.
  • Three strikes in a row is called a Turkey, while four in a row is called a Hambone.

History of Bowling

Like many things, bowling has a colorful history that dates back to ancient times.

  • It has been believed that bowling has been around since 3200 BC.
  • A German historian, William Pehle, strongly believed that bowling began in Germany during AD 300.
  • The American Bowling Congress was organized in September 9, 1895.
  • Bowling became recognized through television in 1950, with NBC as the first to cover it.
  • The PBA, the Pro Bowlers Association, was founded by Eddie Elias in 1961.
  • The ABC was the first network to televise a tournament of the PBA.
