How to Make a School Organizational Chart in Apple Pages
Whether it’s for public schools, universities, or cram schools, organizational charts come in handy when managing an education institute’s personnel and members. With an organizational chart, you have an effective visual aid for creating and understanding a group’s hierarchical structure (as explained by Investopedia, a business and finance resource).
Using Apple Pages to set up a proper school organizational chart is fairly simple. However, if you’re not familiar with how this diagram works or how it’s made, then don’t pass up on our tips found just below!
1. Prepare Your Document Page’s Workspace
Before creating any content, turn off the default text field in Apple Pages beforehand. With a new file ready, open the Document sidebar and then deactivate Document Body before confirming that you want the page as a layout document instead.
2. Provide Your School Organizational Chart with an Informative Title
Give your chart a title by adding a text box at the top of your page. Click the Text button (above) and click-drag the new text box to where you need it. Select the box to type in it, click-drag one of the side or corner handles to resize, and click-drag the box itself to move it. Write down a title that’s short yet fairly descriptive, like “School Board Members” or “High School Faculty Department.”
3. Use Shapes for Your School Organizational Chart
The primary aspect of any organizational chart is the usage of shapes for arranging names and titles. In regards to school-use, teachers, prefects, students, etc. are written down in these shapes.
Open the Shape menu in the above toolbar and pick a suitable shape for your needs--either a rectangle or oval, preferably. Start with the title and name of the highest authority figure(s), typing the information in your shape. Then, work your way down with each descending layer of command, adding and filling in more shapes.
4. Connect The Chart’s Shapes to Each Other
Besides the shapes, there are also lines that direct the school hierarchy’s flow.
First, select more than one shape with CMD+click. Next, go to Insert > Line and then choose which option you prefer. Now the selected shapes have lines that connect them to each other, and these lines automatically adjust themselves whenever you move those shapes around.
And so, after going through all of our tips, you now see just how easy it is to make a school organizational chart on macOS! Do you need a little extra help? Then be sure to browse through our School Organizational Chart Templates!
