5+ Baby Sign Language Charts

Baby sign language allows toddlers and infants to communicate their desires and emotions before even learning to talk. Encouraging sign language develops a natural stage in infants, which is known as gesture. In baby sign language, infants are taught with enhanced gestures that relate to emotions or objects.

It is considered to be a useful way for parents to connect with their children when speech hasn’t been fully developed as these kids express themselves through bodily movement. Perhaps you chanced upon this page in the hopes of finding useful material that can aid you in teaching your children sign language. It’s a Sign

Parents use baby sign language to their kids mainly to lessen frustration in trying to understand what their kids mean since their physiology does not yet allow them to properly form words. Aside from this reason, we found these other benefits in teaching your children sign language:

  • Since there is some type of understanding between the parent and the child, it actually strengthens the bond they have.
  • Communication is the key for learning this type of language. With communication, the parent can properly cater to what needs their children have.
  • It decreases frustration for the parent and the child. When the child’s needs are catered to, there are less tantrums from the child, meaning less stress for the parent.
  • Self-esteem improves since there is understanding from both the parent and the child.
  • Sign languages make kids smarter as they now know how to communicate with parents in gestures.

Teaching your children sign language is a huge first step to better understanding your children’s needs, albeit a tedious one. Before you proceed with teaching your children sign language, here are some tips for you to have a positive outcome in your teaching:

  • Start by demonstrating when the kid is between six and eight months old or as long as they can have your full attention for more than two seconds.
  • Begin with two to five signs with eye contact and saying the word loudly. Use those signs associated with objects they use often, such as “bed.”
  • Repeat teaching the signs and saying the word loudly on a regular basis.
  • The kid usually start to mimic the signs you taught in about two months. When this happens, you can start teaching them other signs.

Along with these benefits and tips we have provided, you can begin with your teaching. Also check out these Blank Chart Template and Baby Growth Chart you can use to keep track of your children’s development.
