With that in mind, here are the steps that will help you create an effective employee action plan that can ensure you’re able to accomplish whatever you’ve set out for yourself:

1. Know What Your Goal or Goals Are

Before you can even come up with the actions that will help you meet your goals, you’ll need to know what they are first. You need to be able to do this because whatever actions you’re going to do will be based off of them. So as you’re listing them down in your sample action plan, you need to make sure that they’re S.M.A.R.T (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, timely).

In terms of being specific, you want to define your goals as clearly as possible in the plan. The clearer it is, the better it will be for you as you’ll instantly be reminded as to what you’ve set out to accomplish by simply going through the action plan. You may also see team action plans.

It should be pretty obvious that you would want these goals to be both attainable and realistic. Because let’s say that you’ve just set out an unreasonable goal for someone else that you know he or she won’t be able to do.  Do you honestly think that person would want to actually try and meet that goal? The same thing can happen to you. It’s possible that if you even try to accomplish the unrealistic and unattainable goals that you’ve set out for yourself, then you might just give up half-way or when you barely even begin. You may also see event action plans.
