6+ Volunteer Resignation Letter Templates

Resignations are usually done for personal and professional reasons. Voluntary resignations mean that an employee has done nothing against the company and the resignation is based on his or her own decision. Volunteer resignations are done by employees who think that they need something more that the job or the company cannot provide. However, they may be instances that are already out of the person’s control and the only option left is to resign from his current workplace.

There are many factors that affects one’s decision-making process with regard to volunteer resignation. These may involve his or her professional growth, the people surrounding him or her in the work environment, outside sources, work offers from different companies, and the adjusting needs of the individual. Reasons for Volunteer Resignation

Aside from external factors, a few reasons for volunteer resignation are as follows:

  • The employee feels that the job is not fit for him or her anymore and there is already a need to change the direction of his or her career through applying to a different company which can offer a job position where he or she will feel comfortable and productive.
  • There may be guidelines and restrictions in terms of the operations of the business which hinders the employee to do the things that he or she is used to doing.
  • The employee may already be in the situation where he or she needs to have a career growth and promotion has not been offered to him or her yet in the company where he or she is currently working.
  • There may be misunderstandings between the employee and his or her co-employees and/or immediate head which disables the employee to perform at his or her best whenever at the workplace.

The Resignation Acceptance Letter

Once a resignation letter has been received by the organization from an employee, a resignation acceptance letter shall be given to the employee who plans to resign. This letter may include the following:

  • The reaction of the organization with regards to the decision of the employee to resign
  • A counteroffer which may resolve the employee’s desire to leave the company
  • The decision of the organization on whether to allow the number of days that the employee wants to render before the effective date of resignation
  • A note of appreciation for the service that the employee has rendered for the business

The Volunteer Resignation Checklist

If you are to resign already, here are a few things that you may include in your volunteer resignation checklist:

  • Assure that your volunteer resignation letter is well put together
  • Print and/or send copies of your resignation letter to your supervisor or immediate manager, the head of the department or division where you belong, and the human resource
  • Talk to the human resource for the schedule of your exit interview
  • Prepare for the items that are needed to be given back to the company for your exit clearance to be signed

The process of resignation should be properly done and considered as it will allow you to leave a positive note to your employer even if you are to leave the company already.
