Making notes is an easier way to learn and increase your progress in a classroom. Lesson notes are basic notes that show how a particular lesson is going and how much the students in the class have understood it. A lesson note shows the effect of teaching on the students of a particular class.
6 Steps to Create Lesson Notes:
Step 1: Know your Purpose
It is very important to know your purpose or goal about why you are creating a lesson note and how is it going to be of any help for you when you need it to be. You should know that you are teaching the students to understand a particular concept or a topic. Making them understand it should be your main goal and how to do that should be your basic aim. It should be what your students are doing and how they are understanding what you taught them at the end of the class.
Step 2: Write your Outline
Jot down big and broad ideas for the class, covering the basic points and allowing students to discuss them in the class. This might be covered with facts. Giving them examples, explaining how and why it happened might give them an extra interest to listen to the class attentively. You can also ask the students to throw in ideas so that there is a point of discussion in the classroom. This makes you understand better whether or not the students are able to grasp what you are teaching them in class.
Step 3: Plan your Schedule
Since there might be a lot to cover up during a class, you can break your lesson into a certain timeline format, making it easier for you to finish what you wanted to in that particular hour. If you have a class for an hour, you can break each section into a few minutes, making it possible to finish each of them easily, without hesitation. The plus point for this would be you will get a better idea about what the student has understood from what you taught.
Step 4: Know your Students
You should understand who you are dealing with and what are their talents, grasping speed, learning styles, etc. If this is not known, it might be difficult for you to teach a class of unknown people. That will help you know where each student stands in the class and who needs to focus more on the subject. It will also give you an idea about who needs special tutoring from you and who doesn’t.
Step 5: Use different Student Communication Designs
A few students are well off studying alone, while others prefer staying in groups. It is very important that students communicated with each other. They get to know different ideas and opinions of one another and that expands their range of thinking very widely. This can be done through different group activities, where students have to work together as a team. That will give them a lot of topics to discuss and interact with each other.
Step 6: Use different Learning Methods
A good teacher always understands and knows that no student can sit through a one hour class continuously without a break. To make the class more interesting, you can take up different learning and teaching methods in the class. You should always ask your students follow-up questions of what was taught in the class. You can make the students play games, talk to each other in group discussions, conduct quizzes, take outdoor classes, lab sessions, etc.
