5+ Action Planner Templates
If you want to see improvement in your productivity you should start using action planners. That way, you will be spending less time thinking about what to do and more time actually doing something. In this case, you spend a small portion of your time deciding on what to do in the upcoming days, weeks or months and then once you start acting on the plan you stop planning altogether and focus fully on completing the tasks.
Steps to Create an Action Planner
Step 1: State the Purpose
There should be a primary purpose that you wish to serve by creating this action planner. That is your motivator. That should be put on top. Let’s say you want to build a website. There will be several tasks that you need to complete to make a website. But the ultimate purpose is building one. So that is what you put under this section.
Step 2: List Out the Goals
In order to reach your end goal, there should be smaller tasks that contribute to the final one. In this section list out those goals that you need to achieve in order to complete the main task. E.g. in the case of building a website, you need to first create the design, then code the front end and the backend, or the backend first if you prefer it that way.
Step 3: Your Details
This is an optional step that is applicable if this action plan is being assigned to another party, say for example the company that you work for. Here mention your details, like name, address, age, the person to whom you report, etc. Also, mention the particular role that you play in that company.
Step 4: Action Plan
The action plan is a detailed breakdown of everything that needs to be done in order to complete each and every task. Create a table for that. Create a three-columned table. For the first column give the title ‘Objectives’, for the second ‘Due Date’ and for the third one ‘Status’. Try to finish before the deadlines and mark accordingly: Due/Overdue/Completed.
Step 5: Reminders and Checklists
If there are external factors influencing some of your tasks, use this section to remind you of those. Suppose in the case of website development, you might be dependent on the design team to provide you with the design on time. So remind yourself to ask for it when you need them. Use checklists to mark these tasks as complete when they are done.
