At the top of the structure of Alibaba Group Holding Limited is the Group’s Board of Directors, which sets the overall strategic direction, governance and oversight of the business, ensuring alignment of operations with shareholder and regulatory interests. Directly beneath the Board is the Chief Executive Officer and core executive leadership team, who manage the holding company and coordinate its major business lines and strategic initiatives. Reporting into that leadership, the third level comprises the heads of the major business groups and corporate functions—such as the China e-commerce business group, the international digital commerce group, the cloud and intelligence business group, logistics and supply-chain units, and digital media & entertainment operations—each operating with a degree of autonomy under the holding company umbrella. At the fourth level sit the divisional leaders and general managers of the business units, who oversee the operational execution of those business groups – managing individual platforms, regional businesses, functional units such as marketing, technology, finance and customer operations, and ensuring that each group meets its targets and aligns with overall group strategy.
