Using strategy in any of your business process, especially before the application of health and safety procedures, helps achieve both your short and long-term goals. A strategy is important since resources are usually scarce in achieving these goals. In the case of managing safety, health, and wellness of employees, strategic planning mobilizes resources to execute plans of action. The following is a five-step process for building a Safety Strategic Plan. These steps outline the basic work that needs to be performed to have a strong strategic plan for implementation:
1. Develop a Work Plan
For an organization to be ready for simple strategic planning, leaders of the company must make sure that they are truly committed to the effort it requires and whether they are able to put in the necessary attention to the bigger picture. Having a safety and planning committee with all members ready, to begin with, the strategic planning must have these four tasks completed before they can proceed:
