5 Steps on making a Consulting Proposal
A consulting proposal is a document that contains the description of a job for the client to take and conditions under which they will do so. It is usually made after the consultant, and prospective client discussed the job and the terms. Create yours now by referring to the steps below.
Step 1: Choose a template or start from scratch.
You can always either choose a template above or surf on the internet for more or start from scratch. For more convenience and more accessible, we advise you to make your proposal using a sample template. Using a template is more advisable, however, as it gives you a layout for any purpose you wish — especially useful since consulting proposals come in many variants such as business letters, emails, etc.
Step 2: Start your draft of the first and second paragraph
When starting to write the proposal, the first thing you do is to describe the job overview in the first paragraph. Here you will discuss what you discussed with the client. Don’t dwell on precise details yet like money, hours, and so on. In the second paragraph, describe your qualifications. Here, you are trying to market yourself as one of the best consultants to convince your client to grab you as the consultant. Persuade your client by drawing attention to things like your experiences and jobs you’ve done in the past that had positive feedback.
Step 3: Continue with the third paragraph until the conclusion.
In the next paragraph, here you will describe the work you propose to your client. Be specific regarding your methods and time frame in this part of your proposal. It is also wise to include here what you expect from the client during your work with regards to personnel, equipment, and access to work sites. Propose a price for your consultation depending on what you are doing and who your client is. You should also remember to keep your rate competitive as you may be competing against others. Continue to write everything necessary and write the last paragraph as the conclusion of everything discussed in your proposal.
Step 4: Check the grammar, relevance, and punctuation, and modify the fonts.
After you’re done with the draft, make sure to check everything including the grammar, punctuations, and the relevance. Modify the font styles and sizes to make it more readable. Make sure to include a signature sign in the last part of your consultant proposal.
Step 5: Print and submit it to your prospective client.
Print two copies of your consultant for you and your client, so both of you have each copy of it. Let your client sign the proposal so that it serves as proof that both of you agreed on the terms.
