An interview sheet is a piece of paper that is used by an interviewer (could be employer, HR personnel) in interviewing someone. This type of sheet bears few questions that would thrown to an interviewee. An interview sheet also contains different sections that is used in evaluating someone who is applying for a job.
If a balance sheet is used in determining the financial status of a business, an interview sheet is used to evaluate a potential employee, while crib sheet is a paper that enables someone to remember something, especially in an examination. Typically, a crib sheet is a cheat sheet.

Importance of an Interview Sheet
Gathering pertinent information is considered a prevalent matter in getting the answers to all the questions we’ve been asking, especially job hunting and searching for the right employee. It may be helpful to have goal sheets to plot out your goals for an interview before conducting it.
While run sheets are useful in presenting organized procedures in a temporal sequence, an interview sheet is important for the following reasons:
- It acts as a hard copy of the interviewee’s answers to the questions asked by the interviewer. Since the act of interviewing is in a verbal manner, having an interview sheet is the best way to record the things that have been talked about all throughout the interview.
- It transcripts all the things what the interviewer has observed during the interview. In this manner, it would be easier for him to remember and identify certain key points on evaluating someone. Whether to accept the potential employee or decline him eventually.

Guide to Formulating Interview Questions in an Interview Sheet
Here are the few things an interviewer must take note before conducting an interview:
- An interviewer must think of a larger scale of topic questions and should outline and cluster the questions that are relevant to the possible answers. Follow up questions must be relevant too. Most especially, questions must be structured in a simple way, it must not confuse the interviewee.
- There must be an overview of the entire interview.
- Choose questions that are based on the level of the interviewee’s field of expertise. This will help determine how skilled and experienced the potential employee is.
- An interviewer must be careful with the choice of words so that the interviewee won’t be confused and could answer the questions as honestly as possible.
- Probing questions is highly recommended. It is preferable to always start with “how’s” rather that “why’s”.
- There must be an alternative question if ever the interviewee won’t be able to answer one question.
- Lastly, last questions must provide a positive closing tone towards the interviewee.
When conducting an interview, it is a must that an interviewer is prepared and that he is knowledgeable of the things he is going to ask to the person is about to interview.
