How is a Value Statement Prepared?

Step 1: The Types of Values

There are four types of values that an organization needs to consider. They are core values, aspirational values, permission to play values, and accidental values. Your intention is to understand these types of values and analyze the objectives of your organization, understand what you are here for and then work on the statement that you want to develop.

Step 2: Writing the Important Things

The next thing that you need to do is that you need to jot down the things that matter to you and you think will be a matter of fact for the organization as well. These might includes issues, values, morals, purpose, mission, vision, etc. These important details will help you to do what you are wanting to do.

Step 3: Identification of the Values

After you write all the important elements now analyze what kind of values they are. Using the types that are mentioned try to find out in which category do your values fall under.

Step 4: Remove Unimportant

After your identification process is completed, you have to cross off certain things that are not necessary. You are not here to include everything in your value statement. Therefore cross out the ones that are not important to you and are of least significant.

Step 5: Prepare the Statement

Now you are ready to prepare the statement that you require for your organization. Based on your organizational needs develop the structure of the statement and make sure that it is understandable by all. Your statement should be appealing and attract the attention of your employees as well as your customers.
