1. All There Is to Know about Sales

Sales is defined as the exchange of a commodity or money as a mode of payment for the purchase of goods and services. It is an activity related to selling or the amount of goods or services sold in a given duration.

The seller of the goods or services completes a sales transaction in response to a purchase order or a direct interaction with the buyer at the point of sale. The ownership of the item is then passed on to the buyer, and a corresponding price is agreed upon by both parties for which the transfer of ownership of the item will occur. The seller generally executes the sale and the purchase executes the payment. You may also see Sample Sales Assistant Resumes

For instances that a sales transaction is done through an indirect interaction, the person who sells the goods or services in behalf of the owner is known as a salesperson, but this term may also be used to define someone selling goods in a store or shop.

2. What Makes a Salesperson a Salesperson?

A salesperson is defined as someone who is employed in a company or business and is tasked with the promotion of products and services, and getting people to buy these products or avail of these services.

The primary function of a professional salesperson is to generate and close business deals resulting in revenue. The salesperson will accomplish their primary function through a variety of methods including telephone calls, email, social media, and networking. Their primary objective is to find the clients to sell their goods and services to. Sales are often referred to as a “numbers game” because the general law of averages and patterns of successfully closing business deals will emerge through heightened sales activities. You may also see Sales Resume Design Templates.

These activities include but are not limited to:

  1. locating prospective clients,
  2. nurturing relationships with the prospects,
  3. building trust with future customers,
  4. identifying and providing the needs of consumers, and
  5. turning prospective clients into actual ones, among others.

Many tools are used by successful salespeople, but the most important of which is conducting a question-and-answer survey to gather information, allowing the salesperson to understand a customer’s goals and requirements relevant to the product.

The perceived value is the result of taking the information gathered, analyzing the smart goals and needs of the prospective customers, and taking advantage of the products or services the salesperson is selling in a way that most effectively achieves the prospective client’s goals and suits their needs.

3. What Do You Need to Have to Be a Good Salesperson?

Here we talk about the best qualities and characteristics a salesperson should have in order to succeed in the dog-eat-dog world of sales.

1. Knowledgeable about the Products/Services

A good salesperson knows the products or services that they are trying to sell very well. Customers are always interested to know the details of the products/services, and this one factor to convince them to buy from you. You may also see Retail Resume Templates.

2. Effective Communicator

Sales is mostly, if not all, about talking to people and getting them to understand the message that you are trying to convey. A good salesperson is able to speak clearly and in a manner that is easy to understand.

3. Active Listener

A good salesperson needs to be able to listen more than they should talk. They should think like journalists and should be able to ask questions that will enable them to dig deeper to explore the buyer’s minds.

4. Naturally Convincing

A good salesperson is persuasive or convincing and they know how to get what they want. They focus on what they want and they are persistent until they achieve it.

4.What Is the Purpose of Writing a Resume?

A resume serves as the basis of employers on whether you are qualified for a job position that they would like to offer to a candidate. This can also be the point of comparison when it comes to assessing the applicants whose skills and credentials are most suitable for the needs of the business. In short, it is a quick advertisement of who you are in terms of your professional life. Here’s a quick how-to guide on writing a resume that will land you a job.

1. A Resume Introduces You to Your Prospective Employers

A resume is a formal introduction of who you are and how you can be an added value to the business. Using a resume makes an applicant present himself/herself accordingly. The usage of a professional resume can make employers identify the kind of candidate that you are. Since this document contains your qualifications, achievements, technical skills and employment history; it will be easy for employers to know whether granting you an interview is a wise move, or the other way around.

2. A Resume Provides a Picture of Your Career

Your resume is the reflection of all the works that you have done during the entire span of your career. It includes the job functions that you have executed and the work positions that you were able to handle. More so, it can showcase your loyalty to a business depending on the longevity of your stay as an employee. In addition, your basic resume also has the details about the special projects and work processes that you have been involved in.

3. A Resume Demonstrates Your Communication Skills

Employers look at your simple resume and immediately get an idea of how well you can communicate. A resume also demonstrates your ability to organize information and write well, as well as to pay attention to detail. Before submitting your resume, make sure that you have scanned it thoroughly to check if there are any spelling or grammatical errors.

5. How to Write a Resume for a Sales Position?

A sales work post requires the full commitment of an employee. It is important for an employee to understand that his/her actions related to his/her work functions can affect the profitability and the branding of the business. When writing a resume for work positions in the field of sales, you need to remember the following:

  1. Show your technical skills as the sales industry is highly-technical.
  2. More so, present your communication skills, may it be written or oral, as talking to a lot of people from different walks of life is a part of your everyday job
  3. Be organized, precise and direct to the point. The way that you put together your credentials can reflect your organizational skills. Being organized and accurate with sales transaction is one of the key factors that make a salesperson successful in the industry. Hence, make sure that your prospective employer can see that in you.

1. Heading or Introduction

Same with all other resumes, you should start with your name, mailing address, contact number, and your personal email address at the top of the resume.

2. Objective or Summary Statement

The first section of your resume should be an objective or summary statement. The objective statement should be between one to two sentences summarizing your goals of searching for a job. You can also opt to write a summary statement instead, which is basically a summary your career in sales in a few short sentences.

3. Previous Work Experiences

The next section of your resume is a list of all your previous sales jobs, including the dates of employment and the position held. This list should be in chronological order, starting with your most recent position.

4. Achievements, Awards, and Certifications

In bullet points, enumerate the specifics on what you were able to accomplish in your previous sales job. If you have any awards and certifications achieved in your career in sales, also include those in your resume, especially those special awards and certifications that are not commonly held by sales professionals. Awards set sales candidates apart, and this proves your worth to a potential employer.

5. Character References

At the final part of your resume, you can list at least two or three references, including their contact numbers for the convenience of the employer should they need more information about you.

Functional resumes give you the platform to display and highlight your skills and experiences. This format works best for job seekers who have no working experience or have a large gap in between their jobs.
