A scope of work is a document usually used for the purpose of listing everything that is needed to be done for a job that is framed in a specific time duration. It is commonly used in project-based works including construction, landscaping, webpage designing, consultancy works, interior design, electrical works, maintenance, and marketing research.
A contracted work must always have a scope of work so that the client will get the services that she paid for and to assure that the people being paid to do the work are doing their job efficiently. Not having a scope of work in any project may incur additional cost and a longer time period for the project to be finished.
The scope of work template is a document that outlines your work schedules in a systematic manner. The work may be under a contractual or a sub-contractual work. It is not an actual contract of the work, but it will outline the expectations for the work you are doing. The expected beginning and the end of the work are outlined in a scope of work template. The needs and wants of the clients must be the first thing to consider when creating a scope of work. Everything that the client envisions shall dictate the time frame on what is needed to be prioritized and done, the total price computation of the project, and the items that are needed to be included depending on the client’s needs and instructions.
Though a scope of work is used in a project, both parties involved in the process should understand all that is written in the document. A sit-down discussion before the project takes place is strongly suggested.
The client and the people who will do the work should be at the same page. There are items included in the scope of work that the two sides may have different interpretations of. This may cause misunderstandings in the middle of the project and will only cause stress to both of the sides involved.
