How to Design a Calendar?
Making calendars is not complicated, all it takes is a user-friendly tool and some details that you think are informative and interesting. To learn how to make calendars, check out the list of instructions below.
1. Decide on a Theme and Size
Begin the process of making a marketing calendar by deciding what theme to use and how big it should be. As you can see, these are both pertaining to the physical traits of the calendar and the latter of which depend on where you intend to place it. If you plan to have your calendars placed on the wall, then you will most likely need to scale it big for it to be seen from afar. For the theme, you have all the freedom to choose whatever you want.
2. Determine How Many Months to Include per Page
Most sample calendars come in 12 sheets or pages to accommodate the 12 months of the year, but you can also go with less if you find it less expensive and more convenient. In other words, you are allowed to make calendars with multiple months on a full page, this can save you money and effort. Choose how many months to include per page, and make sure that it allows you to see the days clearly and not cause the layout to be cluttered.
3. Choose an Editing Software
What modern editing software works conveniently for you? When making a business calendar, make sure to go with something that allows you to maximize your work and not have any restrictions. Whether it's Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Publisher, or Apple Pages, choose a graphics editor or word processor that's both easy to learn and has all the tools you need for creating the calendar design.
4. Start Designing the Calendar
After deciding on an editing software, you can start designing your DIY event calendar. For a basic layout, start by creating a 7 by 6 table with the topmost row intended for the days of the week, and it's up to you whether to start with Sunday and end with Saturday or to start with Monday and end with Sunday. Repeat the process 12 times and don't forget to indicate the name of the month as well as the year just above the table.
5. Add Other Details (Holidays, Tide Times, Lunar Phases)
Aside from the months and days, a yearly calendar also has other details that may come useful to some people. These details include but are not limited to the holidays in a year, the times wherein the sea level rises and falls, and the schedule for each lunar phase. While these are very common across various desk calendars, you can add more personal details such as birthdays and other events if your calendar is intended for personal use only.
6. Finalize and Print Copies of your Calendar
Check the calendar design and make final touches to it if needed. To ensure that your simple calendars are fully printable while preventing the likelihood of formatting issues, it might be best to save your file in either PDF, JPEG, or PNG. If you don't plan on printing your calendar, you can still use the same file formats mentioned earlier since they are also optimized for sharing across different platforms.
