In our world today, most things come in conveniently, and people also ask for things to given to them in the shortest time possible. This is probably due to the fast-paced living we have nowadays, and we believe in the saying “Every second counts” or “There is no second to waste,” even some food are instant nowadays. But one thing that has constantly evolved since its first incarnation is the photograph.

When it first came out in the 1800s, for a photographer to successfully take someone’s photograph, the subject was required to stay in that position for minutes to almost an hour just for the camera to process the image accurately. Back in the days, there was neither colored photographs nor artificial filters to digitally enhance a shot.

Then came the time of the film where a camera exposes it with the image of its subjects upon taking the picture. For those with their own studio and dark room, each film is soaked in a certain chemical and left to dry until the image emerges. Studios are found almost anywhere and you simply need to bring your roll of film to them and they will do the printing of the images through their specialized machine, and this usually takes around an hour to finish.

Years later, photography evolved once again, but this time, it adapted to the technology found in computers by storing unprinted images in memory cards. A single memory card can store more pictures, is able to store videos as well, capable of deleting images and restoring used storage space, and can be reused over and over again as long as the contents are emptied.

In today’s generation, cameras have been made even more convenient by making it an added feature to mobile phones, or should we say, smartphones. Just like the digital cameras in the previous decades, these cameras rely on memory cards as well as the smart phone’s internal memory to store the pictures.

What Is a Logo?

A logo is best defined as a recognizable and distinctive visual design, a one-of-a-kind symbol; or another tool for distinguishing a company, establishment, or organization. It is attached, included, or printed on all advertising, structures, communications, writings, items, stationery, and vehicles. Not to be mistaken for a brand, which distinguishes an product or group of products.

A logo can also be defined as a graphical mark used to distinguish an organization, product, or brand. Logos can be shown alongside, or in place of, an organization’s name to create awareness with the organization’s relationship with a specific product or service. The particular graphic used could be a stylized rendition of the organization’s lettering, or it could also be an abstract design alone.

Logos are an example of untouchable resources since they hold esteem, however, not in a physical form. Logos have turned into a necessary piece of an organization’s identity and are utilized heavily in the promotion of products and services. A well-recognized logo can build an organization’s reputation, and is trademarked for licensed property protection.

What Is a Logo Design?

Since a logo is the visual essence signifying an organization, a logo design is an important area of graphic design. A logo is the focal component of a complex identification system that must be functionally reached out to all communications of an organization. In this manner, the logo designs and their incorporation in a visual character system is a standout among the most difficult yet essential areas of graphic design.

Logos fall into three categories:

  • Ideographs, a graphic symbol that represents a thought or idea, independent of any language, and particular words or expressions;
  • Pictographs, which are visual presentations of information through symbols, pictures, images, etc., in place of or in addition to regular graph components such as bars, lines, or points
  • Logotypes, which refers to any alphabetical setup that is intended to distinguish an organization by its name.

Because logos are intended to represent companies and their products and should foster their immediate customer’s acknowledgement, it is counterproductive to redesign logos habitually.

What Is a Logo Color?

Color is a vital component in a logo design and assumes an important part in a brand’s uniqueness. The significance of color in this setting is because of the mechanics of human visual recognition wherein color and contrast assume basic parts in visual detail perception.

While color is viewed as vital to brand recognition and logo design, it shouldn’t confict with the logo’s functionality, and it should be remembered that the meanings and associations behind colors are not consistent across all cultures and social groups.

Selecting colors for an organization’s logo is a critical choice because of its long-term result or consequence as well as its role in being different from competitors. A procedure for distinguishing potential logo colors within an industry sector is color mapping, whereby existing logo hues are systematically recognized, mapped, and assessed.

Photography Now

Although any individual who picks up a camera can view themselves as a photographer to some degree, it takes a considerable measure of practice, imagination, and knowledge about cameras, lighting, scenery, and significantly more to really become what most would call a genuine photographer.

Photography offers a variety of experiences and challenges because of the fact that the world, which is a photographer’s main subject, is constantly changing.

Tips to Improve the Quality of Your Photos

  • If you don’t feel like your subject is coming to life in your photograph, try to take a step or two towards your subject and take the shot again. Some would instruct you to fill the entire frame with your subject and see whether there is an improvement on your photo without all the unwanted space.
  • Before you try and take the shot, check where the light source is and use it to your advantage. It doesn’t matter if it is natural sunlight, or from an artificial source like a lamp, try to use these to make your photos look better.
  • You can add more light into your subject and eliminate unwanted shadows by using a flash even during daytime.
  • Be familiar with the ISO. It depends on what time you are shooting, how much movement or motion blur you want on your picture, or how you want your picture to look in general. The outcome of the picture differs when you increase or decrease the ISO setting.
  • Also be familiar with the aperture if you want to achieve an effect where you are able to place the subject on the foreground separate them from the background. This way, you get a three-dimensional effect, which helps the subject stand out.
  • The best and most important way to know what to do with your camera is to read the manual in the first place. This step is commonly neglected by most people, and this is where you get to know what your camera is actually capable of as well as its limitations.
  • Be patient and take your time to think about what you see in your camera’s viewfinder and what you really want for your photograph before actually taking the shot.
  • Be aware of the shutter speed you are using. It makes a lot of difference, especially if you are shooting a moving subject. You can lower the speed if you want a blur effect; otherwise, you may need to have it raised. But when using higher shutter speeds, make sure you have sufficient light since it requires more of it than lower shutter speeds.
  • Follow the rule of thirds when composing your picture. Cut your frame into three horizontal and vertical divisions, then place your subject in either of these three areas in your frame.
  • The best way to enhance your skills is by constant practice. Spend a certain amount of time and shoot as much as you can on random subjects. Don’t worry about shooting photos in a certain way to start with, all you have to do is experiment and do some trials-and-errors
  • With time, patience, and perseverance, you will get better in your photography skills. So never give up and keep practicing.

Tips on How to Create Effective Logos

  • When creating a logo, get ideas from other companies, most especially the ones in the same industry, and learn from them. You can also get ideas from templates found on the Internet.
  • An effective logo should be unique, simple, visually attractive, and is able to deliver its intended message to the public. Aside from those features, it should also be understandable and explainable, memorable, and appropriate to the business.
  • One of the most important considerations for a logo design is the color. It should be able to attract the public with its illustrations brought to life by the colors. But that being said, a good logo design should also do well in gray scale.
