What Is the Definition of Electricity?
Electricity is defined as a phenomenon associated with both stationary and moving electric charges. Electrical charge is a fundamental property of matter and is transported by elementary particles called “electrons.” It occurs when an atom either gains or loses and electron. The different manifestations of electricity are the result of the accumulation or movement of many electrons.
It is one of the most important sources of energy. Power from electricity allows people to have heat, light, and sources of leisure and entertainment. Electricity is also very important for many industries because it is what helps them to operate.
What Are the Uses of Electricity?
Overview
For electrical devices to work, they must be connected to a source of electrical energy. Most often the connection is made through a plug into an electrical wall outlet. Some devices, such as overhead lights, are wired directly to the power source coming into the building and are most often controlled by switches.
Using Electricity at Home
Electricity enters our house via power lines reaching all the way to a big power plant somewhere far away. An electric meter outside the house keeps track on how much you need to pay for your consumption of electricity in a month. The more you use electricity in your appliances, devices, and lights, the higher the bill will be from the electric company.
Sources of electricity inside the house are usually the electric power outlets or sockets that are found on walls around the house, and for an appliance or device to work, you only need to plug it in to those power sockets. For lights, they are usually directly connected to the house’s main power supply and is only regulated through a light switch.
Batteries
Electricity is used to charge up batteries, which use chemicals to store up electricity that can power devices like cell phones, radio controlled cars, handheld video games, and flashlights. Batteries run out of power after a while and will either need to be charged again or recycled, depending on the type of battery. Even if the battery isn’t rechargeable, never throw it in the trash can, always remember to recycle it as there are toxic chemicals in them.
Automobiles
Electricity is used in automobiles too, especially in our generation today, that some cars are able to run using electric power. But even for cars that still run on fuel, a big battery is present inside that helps the engine get started. Then the engine generates electricity for the radio, lights, and other features. For cars that entirely run on electricity, they make use of big batteries that get charged up when plugged to a wall socket.
What Are the Sources of Electricity?
The sources of electricity can be categorized into two types: Renewable and Nonrenewable Energy.
Renewable Energy
- Hydro Energy. Electrical energy created from water stored in huge dams. The energy created by the water released from these dams is transformed into electricity by hydro-electric turbines and generators.
- Solar Energy. The conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity through the use of solar panels, which absorbs sunlight to cause electrons within the panels to flow, creating electricity. Solar energy is considered to be the most powerful of all renewable energy resources.
- Wind Power. It is a plentiful, clean, widely distributed, and renewable energy source that doesn’t produce any pollutants. It takes advantage of air flow that passes through wind turbines to mechanically power generators of electric power.
- Biomass. This refers to energy coming from landfills or garbage dumps. It includes energy from both animal and plant matter. Landfill gas is created when the waste we throw away starts to decompose in the ground. This gas would normally just seep through the ground and into the atmosphere, which then would contribute to environmental problems. However, it can be collected and processed to create electricity by getting rid of all the moisture from it, and then filtering it. It is then fed through pipes to a gas generator that burns the gas to create electricity.
- Geothermal. Energy from the heat of the earth. It has been used for thousands of years in many countries for boiling water, cooking and heating. It can generate electricity using steam produced from the heat found underneath the surface of the earth.
Nonrenewable Energy
- Fossil Fuels. Sources of energy include fossil fuels that are found within the rocks of the Earth’s surface. They are called fossil fuels because they are thought to have been formed millions of years ago by geological processes acting on dead animals and plants. Once these fossil fuels are all used up, they can no longer be replaced.
- Oil and Natural Gases. They include oil and gases that are made from molecules containing carbon and hydrogen. All living things are made of complex molecules containing carbon atoms. Connected to these carbon atoms are other elements such as hydrogen and oxygen. A simple molecule, called methane, is the main component of natural gas.

What Is the Definition of Logos?
Logos are symbols used to identify and to differentiate one establishment from another. It is the shortened version of the word logotype, from the Greek words “logos” and “typos”, which translates to “word” and “imprint”, respectively.
It is a recognizable and distinctive graphic image or symbol, which sometimes incorporates the name of the organization. There are also logos that are purely graphic emblems, symbols, or icons. It is used to promote companies and businesses, as well as their products and services.
What Are the Benefits of Having a Simple Logo Design?
- A simple logo design holds a clear message. Keep your logo simple but direct to the point, and the message will be clear, concise, and interpreted as you wanted it.
- A simple logo design is easy to recall. A complicated logo design is cluttered with information, making it very difficult for average people to remember.
- A simple logo design is recognizable to people. A simple logo is recognized even from a distance or from your peripheral vision, while a complicated one may require some level of analysis. The purpose of a logo is to bring a particular brand to mind right away. The quicker and easier the process, the better.
- A simple logo design will still be applicable when converted and published through other media. A logo will not only appear on posters or brochures, but on virtually anything to help the organization gain recognition. So this includes television, newspapers, billboards, and business cards. A simple design will make it easier for the logo to be published across different media.
- A simple logo design will look good even when enlarged or shrunk. When a brand design professional creates a simplistic logo design, it can be easily enlarged and shrunken. A complex design will lose details when reduced, causing visibility problems in a number of applications.
What Is the Definition of Templates?
A template is defined as a form or pattern that is premade or predesigned used as a guide to making something. Since templates are already half finished, then a designer will only need to make a few changes and some additional elements on these to achieve the desired outcome.
Templates will already have details in place, which can either be changed or completely removed, and some blank spaces where you will need to input some additional details. When you save a file created with a template, you are usually prompted to save a copy of the file, so that you don’t save over the template.
Most major programs support templates, so if you find yourself creating similar documents or images over and over again, it might be a good idea to save one of them as a template. Then you won’t have to format your files each time you want to make a new one. You will only need to open the saved template and start from there.
