A bank account opening letter is usually written to the bank manager, requesting him/her to allow you to open a bank account in their bank. It needs the support of all documents needed so that the process gets easier. Opening a bank account is not an easy job.  Opening a bank account requires the submission of supporting papers from you such as a recommendation letter from an account holder in the bank (if applicable), valid identification cards for proof of identity and others.

Communication with all the right words is needed to make sure that your bank account is opened at the time you need it. Bank letters make the recipient understand the message you want to deliver to them through the letter. This way, you can get the response you need and can do the needful.

Write a Bank Letter in 5 Steps:

Step 1: Add Recipient’s Details

Firstly, you need to add the address of the recipient, that is, the person you are sending the letter to. The other details include the name of the recipient, the address, contact details, etc. so that it is easier to contact the person you are writing the letter to. Since it is important to convey any important information to the Bank, do so with the help of sample letters that are available online for your perusal.

Step 2: Insert Sender’s Details

The next thing for you to do would be to add the sender’s address, that is, your address in the letter. Add details like your name, your address, pin code if any, etc. that make it clear that it is you who wrote the letter. Remember that the content of your letter should be straightforward. If you are writing an email, then make sure that you choose the right text and font for your letter to the bank manager.

Step 3: Miscellaneous Information

Start with the salutation in the letter, stating your respect to the recipient. Address them as “Mr/Ms/Mrs.” or “Dear Sir/Madam” in the salutation and add the subject line. Check letter templates in Google Docs. The subject would be the purpose of why you are writing the letter. Add the date, the place and the time you are writing the letter, in case it is needed.

Step 4: Introduction, Body, and Conclusion

Divide the letter into the introduction, body, and conclusion. In the introduction, you need to give basic details like the number of your bank account in that particular bank, your full name as mentioned in the bank, etc. Mention why you are writing the letter and also, the kind of help you would want from the bank manager to get your issue sorted. The body of the letter shouldn’t be narrative and long. Conclude on a request, asking them to help you and do the needful.

Step 5: Review

Keep the letter short and to the point. Once you are done putting all the points together, make sure that you review your letter, to check if there are any mistakes you need to change. Give enough time for the manager to process the request and do not push them. Make the necessary changes and send the letter in.
